Build and Lead High-Performing Engineering Teams at Rerun
At Rerun, we’re building a new multimodal data stack for robotics and spatial AI. Large parts of the physical-world economy will be transformed by these technologies, and we're developing the data infrastructure and tools that make it possible. Rerun’s open-source project focuses on visualizing and handling multimodal logs and is already loved by some of the best teams in the world.
We’re looking for a strategic and people-focused Engineering Manager to help scale and structure our engineering teams. This is a unique opportunity to step into an exceptionally talented engineering team that values agency, collaboration, and broad ownership of what we build. Your mission will be to streamline operations, empower engineers and further grow a high-caliber team that thrives on both autonomy and shared responsibility. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone eager to shape a strong, cohesive engineering culture while driving hiring, team development, and operational excellence.
What You’ll Work On
As an Engineering Manager at Rerun, you’ll:
Shape engineering operations by optimising workflows, improving team communication, and ensuring smooth cross-functional collaboration.
Define and foster engineering excellence by benchmarking against top engineering teams and setting clear expectations for quality, velocity, and consistency in technical rigor.
Drive hiring and team growth by managing the hiring pipeline from sourcing to final interviews, ensuring the attraction and retention of top talent.
Mentor and develop engineers through 1:1 coaching, career development, and ongoing support for a growing team.
Improve organisational processes by assessing and refining our engineering structure, hiring strategies, and overall operational efficiency.
Manage a globally distributed team by bridging time zones and ensuring effective collaboration across European and US-based teams as the company scales globally.
Align engineering with business goals by helping leadership set realistic hiring plans, balancing team capacity with company milestones, and driving business growth.
We’d Love It If You Have
Strong technical background with a passion for people management, having started your career as an engineer before transitioning into engineering leadership over the years.
Proven experience managing and growing engineering teams in high-growth startups, ideally within data infrastructure companies or similar.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to mentor, motivate, and develop engineers at various career stages.
Technical expertise in distributed systems, data infrastructure, or cloud services, where technical depth is a strong advantage, even though this is not a hands-on coding role.
A track record of structuring engineering processes, from hiring to technical execution and effectively scaling teams.
Experience leading remote teams, with the ability to manage distributed teams across multiple time zones.
A proactive mindset, taking ownership, solving problems independently, and driving key initiatives forward.
