As a Staff Security Engineer for the EU Sovereign Cloud on the Genesys Cloud Security Operations team, you will be a deep technical expert and leader, responsible for solving the most complex and ambiguous security challenges. Based in Frankfurt, you will drive the technical direction of the team and provide architectural guidance, influencing our security strategy from a hands-on perspective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the go-to technical expert and security engineer, providing strategic guidance and deep knowledge on security controls and tooling.
- Identify and solve new, ambiguous security problems by leading and implementing novel technical solutions.
- Lead and architect advanced change management and security review processes, driving security requirements and standards across the organization.
- Drive strategic initiatives to continuously improve our security posture through advanced automation and new security service design.
- Lead the configuration and management of our EDR solutions, providing strategic guidance to optimize threat detection and response capabilities.
- Oversee and lead quarterly vulnerability and network segmentation scanning initiatives, and implement a process for consistent cloud security group reviews.
- Act as a primary technical liaison with the commercial team, leading collaborative projects to enhance security controls and a secure architecture.
- Mentor and guide other engineers, helping to build their technical skills and security knowledge.
- Participate in the on-call rotation to support critical security operations.
Qualifications:
- Must be a citizen of, and reside in, the European Union.
- Must be able to work independently
- Extensive experience in a senior-level security role in cloud technologies, preferably AWS.
- Proven track record of driving and implementing security initiatives with minimal oversight.
- Expertise in security automation, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Deep knowledge of vulnerability management, EDR, and cloud security posture management.
- Experience with advanced monitoring and incident response platforms.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor other security professionals and communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
- Eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable (but not required):
- Experience using AI technologies (e.g., Bedrock, ChatGPT, Cursor) for security-related tasks is a plus.
- Certifications: AWS, Security+, SANS GCIH, or equivalent.
- Knowledge in:
- SAST, SCA, and CSPM tools.
- EDR tools.
- SIEM and SOAR technologies.
- Logging solutions (e.g., Splunk, SumoLogic).
- Vulnerability scanning solutions.
