What You Will Do

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll be at the heart of building and optimizing high-performance, scalable systems. You'll design powerful APIs, streamline data flows, enhance infrastructure efficiency, and harness LLMs to drive AI-powered data syndication, shaping the future of small business compliance.

You will work closely with product, data, and the rest of engineering to drive technical decisions that shape our platform.

About You

You have 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, designing scalable systems, and working Node.js (TypeScript), APIs, databases (PostgreSQL/Supabase), and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Vercel).
You are experienced in building, maintaining, and securing scalable and high-performance APIs and working with PostgreSQL, Redis, Supabase, or similar technologies.
Excited to leverage LLMs to synthesize public and private data, build API-driven solutions for partners and merchants.
Interested in expanding AI capabilities to improve data syndication and drive innovation in small business compliance.
You understand performance optimization, including caching, connection pooling, and database tuning.
You define requirements independently and execute with ownership.
You are a problem solver, comfortable making critical architectural decisions that balance scalability, security, and maintainability.
You build observability and monitoring solutions to ensure system reliability.
You communicate effectively with engineering, product, and leadership teams to align technical decisions with business goals.
You are a strong communicator and collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
You enjoy working across time zones with a global team.
You have opinions on the use of early stage unit & integration tests.
You have experience building 0 to 1 or at an early stage company where speed and signal are paramount
You are ideally based in the SF Bay Area.
