As a Design System Manager, you will lead the evolution, governance, and adoption of our design system, ensuring it scales effectively across platforms while maintaining consistency, accessibility, and efficiency. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product designers, engineers, UX content strategists, creative marketing and accessibility experts to create and maintain a system that empowers teams to build seamless, high-quality user experiences. Your proven track record in design systems, in close partnership with Engineering and Product Management—combined with exceptional leadership and communication skills—positions you as a key influencer across our organization.

The design system team is a key strategic player within our UX organization and the wider Genesys team. We are responsible for creating a scalable, cohesive, and accessible system that serves as the foundation for our digital experiences. Our work directly impacts how designers and developers build consistent, high-quality experiences across our platform.
As the Design System Manager, you will be at the centre of this initiative, driving adoption, ensuring collaboration between design and engineering, and continuously evolving the system to meet business and user needs. You’ll work closely with UX leadership, engineering, and product teams to create a design system that enhances efficiency, fosters innovation, and upholds best-in-class user experience standards.

Management Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of UX designers, providing guidance, feedback, and growth opportunities. Oversee performance reviews, hiring, and promotions, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high-quality design output.
Team & Project Management: Allocate UX designers effectively, based on highest priorities and identified business/user impact. Manage day-to-day planning, staffing, and execution of design projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality and accessibility standards.
Collaboration & Communication: Effective collaboration is at the core of this role. As the Design System Manager, you will work closely with designers, engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and adoption of the design system across teams. You will facilitate cross-functional discussions, proactively communicate updates, and advocate for best practices in system usage. You will act as a bridge between design and engineering, ensuring that both disciplines contribute to and benefit from the system equally. Additionally, you will develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, host training sessions, and create feedback loops to ensure the system evolves in response to user needs. Your ability to communicate complex design and technical concepts in a clear and accessible way will be critical in driving the success of the design system.
Design System Leadership & Strategy:
Strategic Leadership & Vision: Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the design system, ensuring alignment with product and business needs. Collaborate with UX leadership to ensure the system supports evolving user experience needs.
Promote Adoption & Best Practices: Establish best practices for governance, contribution, and adoption across design and engineering teams. Advocate for the value of design systems, influencing product teams and leadership to drive adoption, while championing best practices in design documentation, accessibility, and usability testing.
Governance & Adoption:
Scale & Evolve the Design System: Define scalable contribution models that allow teams to improve and extend the system responsibly. Establish guidelines for accessibility, usability, and design consistency across platforms. Conduct regular audits and feedback loops to measure adoption, identify gaps, and ensure quality.
Support & Educate Teams: Drive internal education efforts, including documentation, workshops, and office hours, to support product teams in using the system effectively.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in UX, Product Design, or Design Systems, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership role.
Deep experience working with design systems, component libraries, and design tokens.
Proficiency in Figma (or similar design tools) and a strong understanding of how design systems translate into front-end development.
Strong collaboration skills, with experience working alongside engineering teams to align design and development efforts.
Solid knowledge of accessibility (WCAG standards) and inclusive design best practices.
Excellent communication and advocacy skills to drive cross-functional alignment and stakeholder buy-in.
