About the Role
As a Platform Engineer I you’ll join our Cloud Platform team at the very start of your career journey. You’ll work side‑by‑side with senior engineers who will mentor you while you learn how we build, operate, and continuously improve our Kubernetes‑based developer platform on AWS. Your primary focus will be to contribute reliable, well‑tested code, automate repetitive tasks, and help keep our platform dependable and simple for developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute features and bug‑fixes to our Kubernetes platform under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Write tools and automation scripts (e.g., Bash, Golang, Python, or Terraform) to eliminate manual toil and improve broader developer experience.
- Pair‑program and participate in code reviews to learn best practices and improve code quality.
- Assist with monitoring and alert triage using observability tools like Datadog and Amplitude.
- Author and maintain run‑books and user‑facing documentation.
- Participate in a shadow on‑call rotation after an onboarding period, escalating issues appropriately.
What We’re Looking For
- 0‑2 years of professional software or DevOps experience (internships, co‑ops, or projects count!).
- Demonstrate a growth mindset—seek feedback, ask questions, and quickly iterate on solutions.
- College courses, or personal or professional projects, that demonstrate familiarity in Linux (bash), networking basics, and Git.
- Experience using containers (Docker or similar) in the course of application development, and interest in Kubernetes/cloud‑native technologies.
- Ability to read and write a scripting language (Python, Bash) and eagerness to learn Golang.
- Used at least one CI/CD system (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.) in school or prior work.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, team‑first attitude.
- Passion for automating repetitive tasks and delivering high‑quality, reliable systems.
