Role Overview
The Head of Tax will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s tax function, including US and international tax compliance, indirect tax, global tax strategy, and intercompany arrangements. This role could also support certain treasury operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, strategic thinker who thrives in an exceptionally fast-paced environment and is excited to build and enhance our processes from an early stage.
What You'll Do
Global Tax Compliance
Work with third party providers to oversee preparation, review, and filing of all US federal and state income tax returns
Manage quarterly and annual tax provision processes (ASC 740)
Monitor changes in US tax law and assess impact on the company
Work with third party providers to manage income tax compliance for all international subsidiaries, including coordination with local advisors
Oversee transfer pricing documentation and ensure compliance with global requirements
Support expansion into new international markets from a tax perspective
Ensure compliance with US sales tax regulations across all relevant jurisdictions
Oversee VAT compliance for international operations, including registration, filings, and audits
Implement and maintain systems for accurate indirect tax collection and remittance
Global Tax Strategy
Develop and execute a comprehensive global tax strategy aligned with business objectives
Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to optimize the company’s effective tax rate while minimizing complexity
Advise on the tax implications of business initiatives, M&A, and new product launches
International Tax Operations and Compliance
Design and implement intercompany agreements to support global operations
Ensure proper transfer pricing policies and documentation are in place
Collaborate with legal and finance teams to structure intercompany transactions efficiently
Oversee tax compliance related to international equity compensation programs
Partner with HR and legal to ensure proper reporting and withholding for global equity grants
Coordinate with third party providers to ensure compliance with annual tax reporting and compliance requirements for local, city and country
Treasury Operations (Nice to Have)
Support cash management, banking relationships, and intercompany funding arrangements
Assist with Intercompany invoicing, settlement and cash management strategies
Assist with foreign exchange risk management and global cash repatriation strategies
What You Have
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or advanced tax degree
10+ years of relevant tax experience, including public accounting and/or in-house corporate tax roles
Strong knowledge of US federal, state, and international tax laws and regulations
Experience with indirect tax compliance (sales tax, VAT) and international tax matters
Proven ability to develop and implement global tax strategies in a high-growth environment
Experience with equity compensation tax compliance is highly desirable
Some Treasury management experience is a plus
Excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
