How you'll make an impact
The Payroll Specialist is part of the Finance Team which undertakes the finance function for all of Xero’s worldwide operations. The Pay Team, within the wider Finance Team, is a global shared service.
You will be part of the team responsible for the efficient and accurate processing of end-to-end payroll.
The payroll system currently used is Ramco, which has data integrations from Workday HRIS. We also use Slack for communication and JSM ticketing for customer service. Xero also uses third party payroll providers for certain smaller payrolls in New Markets.

What you'll do- Process end-to-end monthly payroll for all staff accurately and efficiently.
- Administer payroll services in strict accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and relevant legal and auditing requirements.
- Identify and resolve day-to-day payroll issues, promptly escalating any significant risks or complex problems.
- Assist with the monthly balancing and reconciliation of payroll control accounts, ensuring accurate and timely payment of all payroll liabilities as per legislation.
- Administer superannuation and salary sacrifice arrangements, along with managing worker’s compensation claims.
- Collaborate with the People Experience (PX) team to maintain the integrity of employee data in Workday and the payroll system.
- Respond to staff queries, promoting a strong customer focus with an ongoing emphasis on the quality of service delivery.
- Support the Senior Payroll Specialist/Payroll Manager in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and contribute to ad-hoc project work as required.

- A solid understanding of General Ledger systems, including payroll journals, is required.
- Excellent time management is key in our deadline-driven environment, alongside strong administrative and procedural skills.
- You should have a good understanding of AU payroll legislation and at least 2 years of payroll processing experience gained from a large Austalian company.
- Prior experience with global payroll for a medium to large company is a plus.
- Experience using a cloud-based system (like Ramco, Workday, or Zendesk) would also be an advantage.
