What's the opportunity?
Intercom’s Legal team is seeking a dedicated Paralegal and Legal Ops Manager to support our growing Legal team. This role will support verticals across the Legal Team with a focus on project management, corporate governance, compliance and data privacy. You will support our Legal team and partner with our internal clients throughout the organization to help us scale our legal risk and compliance processes. We are looking for an extremely organized, detail-oriented, technically-savvy team player who will develop, effectuate and maintain policies, processes and initiatives that focus on streamlining how the team delivers legal services at Intercom. The position is based in San Francisco, California.
What will I be doing?
- Program manage legal compliance and other initiatives across areas such as privacy, litigation, IP and commercial transactions
- Support corporate governance and transactional matters: records and file management, board and committee materials and consents, Docusigns, business registrations and filings, subsidiary management, director onboarding
- Support privacy and data protection matters, including managing the privacy inbox, handling data subject privacy requests, completing customer questionnaires, and maintaining up-to-date policies, processes and documentation
- Assist with due diligence and privacy reviews of customers, partners and vendors
- Manage document and data collection and production in relation to subpoenas and track litigation matters
- Organize IP-related filings and assist with gathering information for IP protection and enforcement
- Respond to, and triage, inquiries and requests received via internal and external legal team intake channels
- Support continuous improvement and automation of existing processes and design new processes to improve operational efficiency in support of legal and compliance functions
- Manage aspects of legal operations (such as legal vendor billing) and contract management processes
- Set up and maintain systems, applications and other tools to support cross-functional tasks and projects
- Support special projects, as needed
- Generally keep us organized! This may include creating training content and presenting it, migrating data and files between applications and systems, designing and documenting processes and procedures, and keeping the policies register up to date.
What skills do I need?
- Minimum 7 years combined paralegal and legal operations experience supporting a multinational SaaS company legal team
- A proven ability to learn new subject areas and complex concepts quickly to understand the context of assigned tasks
- Demonstrate technical aptitude and have familiarity with commonly used systems and tools in SaaS companies and in-house legal teams, including G-Suite, Visual Compliance, productivity apps like Slack, Coda, Glean and contract management tools like Ironclad
- Creative and collaborative problem solving, resourcefulness and ability to identify and drive efficiencies
- An ability to prioritize, multitask and juggle many matters at once that may have competing deadlines
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-activity environment, and able to handle ambiguity and quickly shift from one situation or task to another
Bonus skills & attributes
- Past experience and/or subject matter expertise with trademark, patent filing and administration, and due diligence a bonus
- Interest in AI and open source licensing practices

The base salary range for candidates within the San Francisco Bay Area is $121,500-$145,125. Actual base pay will depend on a variety of factors such as education, skills, experience, location, etc. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All regular employees may also be eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
