We are seeking an experienced data engineer who thrives in a fast paced environment. You will have the unique opportunity to build the new unified data platform to power our suite of AI tools and insight delivery.
About this role and the work
Karbon is at the start of its Data & AI journey meaning that you will have the opportunity to revolutionize our data platform. This role supports both our AI team and our Insights team, critical in delivering features for the Karbon platform. The successful candidate will be capable of assessing existing architectures and strategically identify opportunities to improve our data platform.
Some of your main responsibilities will include:
- Architecting a unified data platform - Define, map and model the data and data-flows from multiple systems in line with our target data architecture.
- Create and manage data pipelines - that enable the ingestion, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) of data from various sources into our Azure data ecosystem.
- Support the AI and insights functions - Bring together resources so our data teams are accessing the same data.
- Data management - Be able to build quality checks and tests for all newly developed code and data assets, checking for completeness and integrity against established processes.
- Collaboration - You can work in a cross-functional team with AI engineers, analysts and full stack developers.
About you
If you’re the right person for this role, you have:
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in data engineering
- Experience with Databricks
- Strong understanding of ETL & ELT data migration patterns
- Experience developing and maintaining data pipelines (DBT, FiveTran, Stitch, Talend, etc)
- Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dataflow, AWS Glue, etc.)
- Proficiency in a relevant programming language (Python, Javascript, etc.)
- Proficiency in SQL and a deep understanding of relational DBMS
It would be advantageous if you have:
- Previous experience with Azure cloud (Highly desirable)
- DevOps experience is highly desirable
- Experience with Big Data technologies (Spark is highly desirable)
