The Team
Metis is the cloud-based scalable architecture for NeuralSearch, our AI search engine, which incorporates both keyword and vector search. Metis consists of distributed components which orchestrate the building and storage of indices containing customer data and then querying that data to return search results. The team’s role is to transform Metis into a platform by designing and maintaining reusable libraries and frameworks for use by multiple internal teams.

As an Engineering Manager at Algolia, you’ll be at the intersection of people leadership, technical strategy, and product impact. Your mission will be to create the conditions for your team to thrive and deliver meaningful outcomes for our customers. You will:
- Lead, coach, and grow a team of talented engineers, supporting their growth in technical expertise and leadership.
- Partner with product and design to define ambitious yet achievable roadmaps that align with Algolia’s vision.
- Ensure projects are delivered with high quality and reliability, while proactively removing roadblocks.
- Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Shape technical direction and standards in partnership with senior engineers, ensuring scalability and sustainability of our systems.

You might be a fit if you have:
- Proven experience leading engineering teams in a high-growth or product-focused environment.
- A background as a software engineer, with strong technical judgment and the ability to dive deep when needed.

Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with Go, Kubernetes, building and maintaining software libraries.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, APIs, or event-driven architectures.
- Prior experience scaling engineering organizations or leading through change.
