Job Title: Enterprise Platform Engineer
Department & Team: IT Infrastructure
Reports to: Richard Garner, Senior IT Manager - Infrastructure Operations
This role requires availability to work in alignment with U.S. Eastern Time Zone (09:30 - 18:30 EST)
We are seeking an Enterprise Platform Engineer to manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise applications and infrastructure platforms. This role will serve as a Level 3 escalation point for our Managed Service Provider while leading system enhancements, project delivery initiatives, and operational improvements. The engineer will play a critical role in ensuring database integrity, application availability, and seamless connectivity across enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Administration
- Lead SQL Server performance tuning, disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and security hardening.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and high-availability support to maintain database reliability.
Web Services Administration
- Configure, secure, and optimize IIS and Apache web servers to ensure stability, scalability, and compliance.
- Automate deployment and configuration tasks for consistent service delivery.
Automation & Integration
- Develop and maintain PowerShell/Python scripts and leverage Power Automate for process automation.
- Integrate enterprise platforms with tools such as SharePoint, Globalscape, and Mimecast to streamline workflows.
Governance & Optimization
- Monitor usage and licensing of enterprise platforms, advising on cost optimization and capacity planning.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Act as a Level 3 escalation point for incident and problem resolution.
- Mentor junior engineers and ensure effective knowledge sharing within the team.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions with business needs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field; equivalent work experience considered.
- 3+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure operations, including 3+ years in SQL Server and IIS/Apache administration.
- Strong skills in PowerShell or equivalent scripting for system automation.
- Solid understanding of enterprise tools, integrations, and platform lifecycle management.
- Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- ITIL Foundation certification or strong familiarity with ITIL practices and ServiceNow workflows.
- Ability to thrive in Agile and DevOps environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SQL Server certifications (MCSE, MCSA) or equivalent.
- Cloud certifications (Azure Administrator, AWS SysOps) a plus.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring tools (Splunk, SolarWinds, etc.).
