We’re looking for a Sales Engineer to help organizations around the world adopt Backstage, Spotify’s open platform for building developer portals. Backstage is used by thousands of companies to bring order to their internal developer experience; streamlining infrastructure, documentation, and workflows in one place.
In this role, you’ll work with enterprise customers exploring Backstage Enterprise to understand their engineering environments, demonstrate the platform’s value, and help them design and implement successful integrations. You’ll partner closely with our Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to make sure every customer’s journey from discovery to adoption is seamless.

What You'll Do - Act as the technical expert throughout the sales cycle, from initial demo to proof of concept.
- Explain how Backstage’s architecture, APIs, and plugin system can be adapted to each client’s environment.
- Partner with customer engineering teams to integrate and extend Backstage, including building custom plugins or workflows.
- Troubleshoot implementation issues and provide hands-on guidance during deployment.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to share customer insights and shape future product improvements.
- Create and deliver compelling technical presentations and demos that show how Backstage can improve developer productivity and alignment.
- Represent Spotify’s engineering excellence and open-source values in conversations with technical leaders and platform teams.
Who You Are - Understanding of how modern engineering teams build and ship software.
- Experienced with Backstage and/or other developer portal platforms
- Fluent in technologies like Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps tooling.
- Comfortable coding in React, TypeScript, and Node.js, and understand web architecture.
- You’ve worked with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and are familiar with enterprise integrations.
- You enjoy solving complex technical problems and can clearly communicate solutions to both engineers and decision-makers.
- You’ve worked as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Developer Advocate in a tech company before.
Where You'll Be - This role is based in London
