What's the opportunity?
Intercom’s Customer Education team is building the learning experiences that will enable our customers to transform themselves into AI-first companies. As Intercom’s first Learning Multimedia Designer, you will be the visual storyteller for our customer education content.
You will sit at the intersection of product and education, transforming technical concepts into engaging, high-quality video tutorials that help our customers master the Intercom platform and the underlying skills they need to achieve their desired outcomes.
As the first of this type of role, you will have a unique opportunity to influence the style, process, and tech stack of our production process. What will I be doing?
- Produce engaging educational content that drives business outcomes and helps our customers achieve a high return on their investment with Intercom.
- Collaborate with Learning Experience Designers end-to-end to produce the most impactful videos possible. We work as one team from start to finish and not with a waterfall approach.
- Design effective visuals to increase learner retention of abstract and technical concepts.
- Create beautiful and tasteful animations that maintain learner attention.
- Improve the production process and video quality through AI tooling, rich feedback culture, and engagement data analysis.
What skills do I need?
- 5+ years of experience in production of external learning content ideally in a fast-paced tech environment.
- A portfolio demonstrating strong video production, motion graphics, and instructional design principles.
- Deep expertise with the Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Premiere Pro and After Effects).
- Working knowledge of production studio operations, including audio and video recording equipment, lighting techniques, and basic set design and aesthetics.
- Proven ability to translate complex, technical product concepts into clear, digestible, and visually engaging designs and animations.
- Experience developing and maintaining a consistent visual brand style across all video assets.
- Strong understanding of learning best practices and how multimedia elements influence learner retention and engagement.
- Strong understanding of the latest AI production technologies such as HeyGen and Nano Banana.
Bonus skills & attributes
- Experience with content authoring tools to assist with visuals and the design of online courses is preferred but not required.

The base salary range for candidates within the Greater Chicago Area is $103,500 - $123,625. Actual base pay will depend on a variety of factors such as education, skills, experience, location, etc. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All regular employees may also be eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
