Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Legal Counsel role sits at the intersection of content licensing and product strategy—an increasingly important seam in SaaS as platforms expand beyond pure software into rights-based media offerings. The remit is anchored in negotiating and structuring audiobook licenses while advising commercial teams, which reflects how SaaS businesses operationalise partnerships as a core “feature” of the product experience.
From a SaaS career perspective, the position offers repeated exposure to the mechanics of scaling a catalogue-driven digital service: standardising contracting approaches, managing risk across many counterparties, and translating evolving product initiatives into workable contractual frameworks. The day-to-day collaboration with business and product stakeholders mirrors how in-house legal functions influence roadmap decisions, go-to-market constraints, and the feasibility of new distribution models.
This role is best suited to a lawyer who prefers being embedded with commercial operators rather than working solely as a back-end reviewer. It will fit someone comfortable acting as a subject-matter lead, balancing pragmatic deal-making with clear guidance on copyright and licensing obligations, and maintaining momentum across multiple negotiations and internal touchpoints.
