Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Director of Engineering remit sits at the intersection of modern SaaS data platforms and production AI, focusing on an internal LLM platform that underpins multiple customer facing capabilities. Within the SaaS ecosystem, platform teams like this increasingly determine how quickly product groups can ship AI features safely, consistently, and at scale, making the role a bellwether for how enterprise SaaS vendors operationalise LLMs.
From a SaaS career perspective, the role builds durable leadership capital in areas that travel well across cloud companies: multi team execution, service reliability, and the translation layer between product needs and infrastructure realities. Owning a shared platform also creates repeated exposure to cross functional alignment, prioritisation trade offs, and the mechanics of scaling systems that support many downstream products, which is a common pattern in large SaaS organisations.
This role tends to suit an experienced engineering leader who is motivated by leverage and systems thinking rather than single product ownership. It aligns with someone comfortable developing senior technical leaders, setting direction across ambiguous problem spaces, and partnering broadly across engineering and product groups where platform choices shape what the rest of the organisation can deliver.
