Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Engineering Manager role sits at the heart of a mature, enterprise-grade SaaS platform where reliability is a product feature, not an internal afterthought. Production Engineering in this context spans SLO ownership, observability and probing infrastructure, and incident response practices that directly shape customer experience at scale. The remit signals a platform organisation investing in consistent service delivery across many engineering teams.
From a SaaS career perspective, the role builds durable leadership experience in operating multi-tenant systems under real availability and performance expectations. It offers exposure to the operational mechanisms that high-performing SaaS companies standardise over time, including preventative reliability work, rapid detection and diagnosis, and disciplined learning loops after incidents. Managing a subgroup also develops the ability to translate reliability goals into engineering roadmaps, influence across stakeholders, and evolve processes that other teams adopt.
This position is best suited to an established engineering leader who enjoys combining people management with deep operational problem solving. It fits someone comfortable being accountable for outcomes that are measured over time, and who can guide engineers through incidents while also improving the underlying systems and practices that reduce recurrence.
