### Why this Role is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
Senior product design roles in B2B SaaS are increasingly defined by complexity: multi-step workflows, domain-specific users, and the need to balance usability with operational constraints. This position stands out because it sits at the intersection of core product experience, design systems maturity, and the emerging expectation that SaaS products incorporate AI in ways that users can trust. The scope suggests a product with enough surface area to demand consistent patterns and careful interaction design, not just feature-by-feature UI.
From a SaaS career perspective, the role builds durable strengths that travel well across subscription products: discovery-to-delivery ownership, triad collaboration with Product and Engineering, and the discipline of making trade-offs that hold up over time. Experience shaping scalable design solutions and contributing to standards is particularly valuable in SaaS, where iteration cycles are continuous and consistency compounds across releases.

Job Description
About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead complex design initiatives and play a critical role in shaping high-quality, customer-centered experiences across Karbon’s product.
As a senior individual contributor, you’ll operate with a high degree of autonomy—defining problems, exploring solutions, and delivering well-crafted designs end-to-end. You’ll partner deeply with Product and Engineering, influence standards and quality beyond your own work, and help elevate the overall design practice through mentorship and example.
Key responsibilities
- Own and drive complex product design work: Lead design for medium-to-large initiatives from discovery through delivery, translating ambiguous problem spaces into clear, effective solutions that balance customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
- Create AI-enabled experiences: Contribute to the design of AI-powered features that build trust, user confidence, and long-term value for customers.
- Partner deeply with Product and Engineering: Work closely with Product Managers and Tech Leads as a core triad partner—shaping problem definitions, exploring solution options, and making informed trade-offs throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Deliver high-quality, scalable design solutions: Produce concepts, flows, prototypes, and detailed designs that demonstrate strong interaction design, visual polish, and systems thinking—ensuring consistency and quality across the product experience.
- Advocate for the customer experience: Ground your work in a strong understanding of accounting firms by incorporating research, insights, support data, and customer feedback to ensure we’re solving the right problems in the right way.
- Contribute to design systems and standards: Apply and evolve Karbon’s design principles and systems, identifying opportunities to improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability without compromising quality.
- Model strong design craft and critique: Participate actively in design reviews—both giving and receiving thoughtful, constructive feedback—and help foster a culture of high standards, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
- Apply AI to improve design efficiency: Think AI-first, embracing AI tooling, prototyping and experimentation to increase design efficiency and innovation.
- Mentor and support other designers: Provide guidance and informal mentorship to less experienced designers, helping them grow their skills, confidence, and impact through feedback, collaboration, and example.
What we’re looking for
- 6–8+ years of experience in product design, ideally within B2B SaaS or complex product environments
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design thinking, interaction design, visual craft, and problem-solving across complex systems
- Proven ability to work autonomously on ambiguous problems and drive work forward with clarity and ownership
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience partnering closely with Product and Engineering
- Comfort balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution
- Experience contributing to or working within established design systems
- Passion for high-quality, customer-centered design and continuous improvement
Bonus:
- Experience designing for vertical SaaS, professional services, or accounting-adjacent products
- Exposure to designing AI-enabled product experiences
Why Work at Karbon?
- Gain global experience across USA, New Zealand, UK, and Canada
- 4 weeks annual leave plus 5 extra "Karbon Days" off a year
- Flexible working environment
- Work with (and learn from) an experienced, high-performing team
- Be part of a fast-growing company that firmly believes in promoting high performers from within
- A collaborative, team-oriented culture that embraces diversity, invests in development, and provides consistent feedback
- Generous parental leave
