We’re a high-performance, low-ego team driven by urgency, collaboration, and bold thinking. Working at Flock means tackling big challenges, moving fast, and continuously improving. It’s intense but deeply rewarding for those who want to make an impact.
With nearly $700M in venture funding and a $7.5B valuation, we’re scaling intentionally and seeking top talent to help build the impossible. If you value teamwork, ownership, and solving tough problems, Flock could be the place for you.
The Opportunity
Flock Safety is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Aviation Engineering team. As we expand our Drone as First Responder (DFR) vertical, this role is critical to the execution and refinement of our small unmanned aerial systems (UAS) as they move into high-volume production.
You will join the Airframes division to own the mechanical design and iteration of our Alpha quadcopter platform. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will bridge the gap between concept and the manufacturing floor. From solving real-world vibration issues to ensuring seamless integration with docks and payloads, you will be the technical lead for making our flight hardware production-ready.
The Skillset
We’re looking for people with:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design (Aerospace, Robotics, or EV industries preferred).
You should be highly comfortable with complex assemblies, Solidworks PDM, and applying GD&T standards for production parts.
Proven experience designing for scale in assemblies with 200+ parts.
Hands-on experience designing for plastic injection molding (draft, wall thickness, gate placement) and sheet metal fabrication.
Experience developing and running mechanical test plans (vibration, thermal, drop tests) and using that data to iterate on designs.
Understanding of vibration damping and shock isolation for sensitive electronics, flight controllers, or gimbals.
You thrive in 100% onsite, fast-paced environments and are willing to jump on the manufacturing floor to solve a problem in real-time.
90 Days at Flock
The First 30 Days
Complete technical onboarding and gain a deep understanding of the Alpha aircraft’s current mechanical architecture.
Demonstrate proficiency in our Solidworks PDM workflow and begin contributing to the release of assembly drawings for production.
Build relationships with the Operations team on the manufacturing floor to understand current assembly bottlenecks.
The First 60 Days
Own the design of at least one major sub-assembly or payload integration project.
Execute DFM/DFA feedback cycles with vendors to simplify current parts and reduce assembly cycle time.
Work cross-functionally with the Electrical Engineering and Autonomy teams to ensure mechanical-thermal constraints are met.
90 Days & Beyond
Become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Alpha airframe’s mechanical reliability.
Drive the transition of designs from "prototype" to "mass production," ensuring every design change is validated through rigorous testing.
Mentor junior engineers and technicians on CAD best practices and assembly standards.
Salary & Equity
In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between $130,000-$160,000 as well as Flock Safety Stock Options.
Work Environment & Location
This is a full-time, onsite role based at our manufacturing and engineering facility in Atlanta, GA.
Because this position is deeply integrated with our production line and flight testing operations, you will be expected to be onsite Monday-Friday. We believe that this engineer will be most successful when they can walk over to the assembly line, collaborate face-to-face with our airframes team, and see designs take flight in real-time. If you thrive in a high-energy, "hands-on" environment and are excited to be at the heart of where our technology is built, you’ll fit right in.
