Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Senior Applications Engineer role stands out as a SaaS-adjacent position where the “product” includes APIs and developer workflows, not only hardware. The remit spans Python, REST, and ROS2 interfaces, placing the work at the intersection of platform engineering and real-world deployment, where reliability, integration, and usability are tested outside a controlled environment.
For a SaaS career, the value comes from building customer-facing technical credibility while working close to a product surface that resembles a developer platform. Creating sample code, application notes, and white papers mirrors common SaaS motions around developer enablement and documentation, while collaboration with in-house engineering to refine features reflects the feedback loops that shape scalable products. Exposure to installations and support also builds an operational understanding of uptime expectations and production constraints that increasingly influence enterprise SaaS roadmaps.
The role fits professionals who prefer hands-on problem solving and can translate between customer needs and engineering tradeoffs. It suits someone comfortable owning outcomes end to end, including significant travel, and who enjoys working across software, electrical, and mechanical domains while staying grounded in API-first thinking.
The section above is editorial commentary from The SaaS Jobs, provided to help SaaS professionals understand the role in a broader industry context.

About Standard Bots
Standard Bot’s mission is to significantly lower the barrier to entry to real-world
automation, bringing the power of bits to the world of atoms and unlocking
productivity for entire new industries and users. Our user facing applications and APIs
unlock the power of automation for entire new use cases. A relentless focus on
simplicity and ease of use brings the revolutionary potential of robotic automation to
new users and industries. The Applications Engineering team drives forwards the
company’s mission by designing solutions around, installing and supporting Standard
Bot’s innovative 6 axis robot.
This role will be remote and will travel up to 50% domestically to assist our customers. We require 6+ years of hands-on experience across electrical, software, and mechanical systems — you're comfortable with DC power, understand NPN vs. PNP, can write Python scripts, and can navigate CAD tools like SolidWorks. This specific role will support our Python, Rest, and ROS2 API, so software experience is required!
Note: We are unable to offer Visa sponsorship for this role.
About the Role:
We’re looking for seasoned and skilled customer facing problem-solvers to help
architect the future of robotics through the design, installation and support of
innovative new robotic solutions. As a Applications Engineer you will work with other
engineers, organizational leaders, sales and customers to design install and support
solutions for our customers in new and exciting robotic applications.
What You’ll Do:
Partner with sales and customers to design robotic solutions for novel applications, serving as a trusted technical resource throughout the sales cycle
Own installations end-to-end — traveling to customer sites to install, program, and validate Standard Bots solutions in the field
Create technical enablement materials including sample code, application notes, and white papers that help customers get the most out of our platform
Collaborate with in-house engineering to test and refine new features and integrations as our product expands
Contribute to marketing efforts by developing collateral that communicates the value of Standard Bots solutions to prospective customers
What you'll bring:
Technical Depth: 6+ years of hands-on experience across electrical, software, and mechanical systems — you're comfortable with DC power, understand NPN vs. PNP, can write Python scripts, and can navigate CAD tools like SolidWorks
Industry Fluency: You have hands-on experience in automotive, manufacturing, or industrial automation environments — you understand the constraints, workflows, and stakeholders that come with deploying technology on a factory floor
Operational Context: You've worked alongside or within production or assembly environments and can speak credibly to customers about cycle times, uptime requirements, safety standards, and integration with existing equipment
Growth Mindset: You're energized by new domains and challenges, and you pick up context quickly to maximize your impact
Clear Communication: You communicate with precision and empathy — in writing, in person, and across technical and non-technical audiences
Bias for Impact: You prioritize user outcomes over technical elegance, and you execute with urgency
Proactive Simplicity: You default to simple, reliable solutions and proactively flag opportunities to improve on what's proposed or already in place
Thrives in Ambiguity: You do your best work in fast-moving, high-expectation environments alongside a diverse team
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $150,000, depending on experience. We are open to a variety of seniority levels for this role and will build compensation packages that are commensurate with seniority and skill level. Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at Standard Bots. All Full-Time Employees are eligible for Employee Stock Options. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees.
Compensation Range: $120K - $150K
