Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This junior backend role sits close to the commercial surfaces of a SaaS product, with work tied to plans and pricing, trials, payments, and onboarding. That scope is notable in SaaS because it connects engineering decisions directly to how users adopt the product and how revenue is realized, rather than focusing solely on internal systems. The listing also signals a product development team structure with tight collaboration across product, design, and engineering.
For a SaaS career, the experience is broadly portable: building and evolving customer lifecycle flows, working with cloud infrastructure, and operating services with CI/CD and monitoring are recurring themes across subscription businesses. Exposure to a TypeScript and NodeJS backend, AWS-based deployment, and observability tooling supports a foundation in shipping, running, and iterating on production systems, which is central to modern SaaS engineering.
This role fits early-career engineers who prefer product-adjacent backend work and learn well through cross-functional delivery. It will suit someone comfortable balancing feature development with operational responsibilities like deployment and monitoring, and who wants a clear view of how software changes affect user experience across the funnel. The Lisbon-based, hybrid setup also aligns with candidates who value regular in-person collaboration alongside focused remote days.
