Summary
The Public Sector Technology & Engineering Director, is responsible for executing the technical, compliance, and platform readiness requirements needed to support and scale the Public Sector business. The role ensures the platform is ready for regulated workloads and that Public Sector requirements are understood, prioritized, and delivered across the organization. This is a hands-on, execution-oriented role that translates regulatory requirements, customer needs, and deal-specific constraints into practical, executable solutions across Product, Engineering, Cloud Operations, Compliance, and go-to-market partners. The Director acts as the technical connective tissue for Public Sector, reducing delivery risk and removing blockers that can delay deals and impact customers.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Own execution and coordination of Public Sector compliance frameworks and requirements (e.g., FedRAMP; impact levels IL4/IL5/IL6; StateRAMP; SOC, CJIS and other applicable frameworks) in partnership with Compliance, Product, and Cloud Operations.
- Ensure platform readiness for Public Sector requirements, including security, availability, resiliency, auditability, and data protection; identify and drive remediation of gaps impacting regulated workloads, deals, or customers.
- Translate regulatory requirements, customer needs, and deal-specific constraints into clear technical requirements and executable work across Product, Engineering, Cloud Operations, Compliance, Sales and Customer Success teams, drive prioritization, progress tracking, blocker removal, and timely delivery.
- Act as technical lead on complex Public Sector deals; validate solution architectures, compliance positioning, and feasibility of commitments to reduce risk of overpromising and deal delays.
- Lead resolution of customer delivery issues (including upgrade challenges, provisioning delays, and support gaps) and improve communication and escalation handling.
- Drive documentation, enablement, and transparency on Public Sector product availability and constraints (including versioning and compliance status) to support sales, customer success, and partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent additional work experience required.
- 12+ years of engineering experience, including senior engineering leadership roles.
- Proven experience delivering enterprise SaaS platforms at scale.
- Direct experience supporting public sector customers. (Federal and/or SLED)
- Direct experience aligning NIST, STIG and DoD/Federal security standards and requirements.
- Demonstrated experience executing technical delivery and driving platform readiness initiatives in partnership with engineering, product, and operations teams.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating compliance execution for regulated environments and translating regulatory requirements into actionable technical plans.
- Experience operating in DoD or federal agency environments.
- Strong experience with .net based enterprise applications, azure cloud deployments, including Azure Government environments, and high scale, heavy processing platforms.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Working knowledge and experience with Public Sector compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, StateRAMP, CJIS, SOC, and deployment requirements across IL4/IL5/IL6 environments.
- Experience serving as technical lead on complex, regulated deals, including architecture validation and feasibility assessment of customer commitments.
- Experience in high-growth SaaS or PE-backed environments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to translate regulatory and customer requirements into technical requirements, work plans, and delivery milestones.
- Knowledge of cloud/platform readiness concepts for regulated workloads (security, availability, resiliency, auditability, and data protection.)
- Ability to clearly and confidently articulate compliance requirements, risks and defend compensating controls to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to identify platform and process gaps and drive remediation across product, engineering, operations, and compliance stakeholders.
