Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This AI Design Engineer role stands out in SaaS because it sits where product UX, frontend engineering, and applied AI are converging into a new kind of craft. The listing signals a mature, globally adopted SaaS product in a regulated workflow domain, where reliability and traceability matter, and where AI is being embedded directly into the tools customers already live in rather than shipped as a separate feature layer.
For a SaaS career, the value is in learning how modern product teams operationalise AI without breaking core experience quality. The remit touches design systems, prototyping-to-production handoff, and the tooling that increases iteration throughput, all of which translate across SaaS companies that are standardising component libraries and experimenting with AI-assisted development. It also offers a view into how product organisations structure feedback loops so research and insights can keep pace with faster build cycles.
This role is best suited to a builder who enjoys enabling other functions, not just shipping isolated UI. It will fit someone comfortable switching between craft details and workflow design, and who prefers creating reusable foundations that make designers, engineers, and product partners more effective over time.

Job Description
At DataSnipper, we’re transforming the way audit and finance teams work and design plays a critical role in that mission. As AI rapidly reshapes the design and development landscape, we’re evolving with it.
We’re looking for a Design Engineer who thrives at the intersection of design, frontend development and AI. Someone who can empower teams, accelerate experimentation, and help us build smarter, faster, and better products.
About the role
As a Design Engineer, you will be a key enabler for our UX and product teams. Helping them ideate, prototype, and ship high-quality experiences at speed. You’ll bridge the gap between design and engineering, making it easier for teams to turn ideas into reality.
You’ll also play a central role in shaping how we use AI in our workflows, creating environments where teams can “vibe code” their way through challenges and continuously gather feedback.
Your work will directly contribute to freeing up more time for meaningful user research and deeper product insights.
About DataSnipper
Audit and finance are still massively manual — and we’re changing that. DataSnipper is a $1B, bootstrapped unicorn with 600,000+ users across 180+ countries, already embedded in the daily workflows of top audit and accounting firms.
Now, we’re taking things further with our Excel Agent — bringing AI directly into where the work actually happens. Unlike generic AI tools, we don’t sit on the sidelines. Our AI operates inside Excel, with access to real documents and audit evidence — meaning it doesn’t just generate answers, it does the work, with full traceability.
We’re not just applying AI — we’re redefining how audit gets done. If you want to build something category-defining at scale, this is the place.
What you will do
Build and foster an AI-enabled product and design team at DataSnipper
Create and maintain AI design / vibe coding environments using tools like Figma MCP, Claude Code, and others you find valuable
Help build our AI SDLC, specifically for the design steps
Set up and manage repositories for AI-led design
Own and evolve the frontend of our design system, ensuring scalability and consistency
Connect the design system with tools so designers, engineers, and product managers can all actively use and experiment with components
Establish strong collaboration channels between design, engineering, and product teams
Work closely with designers, teaching them code while they generate user insights you can leverage in development
What you bring
3–5 years of experience in design engineering, frontend development, or a similar role
Strong understanding of design systems and frontend architecture
Experience working with Claude Code, Cursor, or similar for engineering and/or design work
Interest or experience in AI-driven workflows and tools
Experience working with modern design and prototyping tools
Ability to bridge design and engineering and communicate effectively across teams
A proactive mindset with a passion for enabling others and improving workflows
What We Offer
Be part of one of the fastest-growing, profitable unicorn scale-ups in the Netherlands with a global impact
Equity (Stock Appreciation Rights) to share the company's success and growth
Pension plan with a 6% contribution on top of your base salary
28 vacation days per year (full-time) to support your work-life balance
