Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Senior AI Software Engineer role stands out in SaaS because it applies AI product engineering to the internal operating systems that keep subscription businesses running. Rather than shipping customer-facing features, the work sits at the intersection of enterprise SaaS platforms like Workday and Greenhouse and modern agentic tooling, reflecting a broader shift toward AI-native workflows inside mature software companies.
For a long-term SaaS career, the strongest signal here is end-to-end ownership across integration design, cloud deployment, and security for sensitive people data. Experience building reliable APIs and event-driven automations across HR, finance, and planning systems translates well to other SaaS environments where data consistency, auditability, and operational leverage matter. The role also offers practical exposure to evaluating emerging AI frameworks while maintaining production-grade standards, a combination increasingly valued as more SaaS teams move from prototypes to durable AI systems.
This position is best suited to senior engineers who prefer autonomy and clear technical accountability, and who enjoy translating ambiguous operational needs into software that non-technical stakeholders can trust. It will appeal to those interested in applied AI, systems integration, and the craft of building internal platforms that scale with the organization.

Job Description
Amplitude's People Systems & AI team is on a mission to rebuild how HR teams interact with technology—moving from manual, system-centric workflows to AI-native, outcome-driven experiences. We are building a modern HR stack powered by multi-agent orchestration, custom applications, and intelligent automation layered on top of our core systems (Workday, Greenhouse, Anaplan, NetSuite, and more). As our Senior AI Software Engineer, you'll be the primary technical builder on the team, owning the design, development, and production lifecycle of custom AI-powered applications that connect and orchestrate data across our people systems.
As a Senior AI Software Engineer, you will:
- Build custom AI-powered applications and multi-agent pipelines that orchestrate data and workflows across people, finance, and enterprise systems—think automated recruiting assistants, performance review agents, and workforce planning triggers
- Own end-to-end development of secure, production-grade internal tools, including architecture, AWS cloud infrastructure, security, deployment, and maintenance
- Design and build API integrations that make data flow reliably and safely between HR platforms, with security-first design for sensitive employee data
- Partner closely with HRBPs, recruiters, finance, and People leadership to translate business requirements into working software that non-technical users can actually use and trust
- Drive technical evaluation of new AI tools and frameworks, contributing to our two-track roadmap of committed outcome-based projects and short-cycle experiments on emerging capabilities
You'll be a great addition to the team if you have:
- Familiarity with HR or people systems (Workday, Anaplan, ATS like Greenhouse, Ashby or similar)—you don't need to be an admin, but understanding the data model matters
- Experience with iPaaS or integration platforms like Workato, MuleSoft, or Zapier, and a sense for when to use them vs. writing custom code
- Hands-on experience with low-code/pro-code app builders like Superblocks or Lovable for shipping internal tools quickly
- Experience with multi-agent orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or similar) and agentic AI patterns like tool use, memory, planning, and chaining
- Comfort operating in fast-moving environments where the roadmap evolves and priorities shift as new capabilities emerge
At a minimum, you need to have:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong fundamentals across frontend and backend development, including proficiency in Python and/or Node.js
- Hands-on experience building and consuming REST APIs and event-driven integrations
- Experience deploying and managing applications on AWS (Lambda, S3, API Gateway, RDS, or similar)
- Strong understanding of security best practices for applications handling sensitive or personal data
- Experience with AI/ML APIs and LLM integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar)—building agents, RAG pipelines, or AI-powered workflows
- Ability to work autonomously, move fast, and make sound architectural decisions without heavy oversight
