Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This role is featured because it sits in a mature, consumer-scale SaaS environment where platform foundations directly shape end-user experience. Leading a backend platform team responsible for metadata delivery places the work at a shared layer used by multiple product surfaces and content verticals, a common pattern in large SaaS organisations that need consistency across many client applications and partner integrations.
From a SaaS career perspective, the position offers sustained exposure to platform thinking: designing versioned contracts, caching strategies, and fan-out serving that must remain reliable under constant product iteration. It also highlights the organisational side of SaaS engineering, where influence is earned through enabling other teams, driving adoption, and aligning technical strategy across a broad stakeholder set. The explicit focus on AI-assisted development adds a modern operational dimension relevant to many SaaS engineering leaders.
The role is best suited to an engineering manager who prefers leverage over ownership of a single product feature, and who enjoys balancing internal developer needs with customer-facing outcomes. It will fit someone comfortable making architectural trade-offs, guiding senior engineers, and operating in an environment where success is measured by platform uptake and long-term system clarity.

Job Description
We design Spotify’s consumer experience—end to end, moment to moment, across every screen, platform, and partner integration. Our mission is to make listening feel effortless, personal, and joyful for billions of users around the world. That means turning complexity into clarity across hundreds of touchpoints—from our mobile and desktop apps to the smart speakers, TVs, cars, and integrations where Spotify shows up every day. If it touches a consumer, we shape it. We bring deep insight into human behavior, design, and technology to craft experiences that feel intuitive, expressive, and unmistakably Spotify.
You’ll join the Core Experience Studio within Spotify’s Experience Mission, working in the Format Foundations Product Area. This space builds the foundations behind how users experience artists, albums, podcasts, and more across the app.
Within this area, you’ll lead Meadow — a backend platform team that powers scalable, content-agnostic metadata delivery. Meadow sits at the heart of many Spotify experiences, enabling teams across Music, Podcasts, Audiobooks, and beyond to build consistent, high-quality user experiences.
