Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This listing stands out in the SaaS ecosystem because it sits at the intersection of product engineering and customer-facing delivery. For an early-stage, VC-backed AI startup with paying clients, the ability to ship polished interfaces and supporting tools is tightly coupled to revenue and retention. The scope spans product UI, internal systems, and outward-facing artifacts like proposals and landing pages, reflecting how SaaS companies often blend product, go-to-market, and operations in the same build pipeline.
Career-wise, the role offers unusually broad SaaS leverage: translating ambiguous needs into shippable UX, building workflow software that supports customer acquisition and account management, and integrating AI/LLM APIs into real interfaces. Experience across React and backend services in a single seat tends to compound, because it builds judgment around tradeoffs that matter in SaaS, such as time-to-ship, maintainability, and how product surfaces connect to internal processes.
The best fit is an engineer who enjoys owning visual quality as much as implementation detail, and who is comfortable moving between frontend craft and pragmatic backend work. It will suit someone who prefers varied deliverables and direct feedback loops, and who wants their output to be visible across both the product and the business-facing parts of a SaaS company.
The section above is editorial commentary from The SaaS Jobs, provided to help SaaS professionals understand the role in a broader industry context.
Job Description
Deamo AI — Engineer (Frontend / Backend / Fullstack)
Full-Time · San Francisco, CA · In-person preferred, hybrid/remote possible
About Us
SF-based early-stage AI startup. Yale Engineering founding team. Paying clients. VC-backed. Growing & hiring.
The Role
Mix of frontend & backend work. We need someone who can code AND design. Someone who looks at a client proposal and knows the spacing is off, the hierarchy is wrong, or the color palette is cheap. You'll build client-facing deliverables, internal tools, and product UI/UX as well as with some backend— all with a high visual bar.
What You'll Do
- Client-facing proposals and documents (e.g. HTML, PDF, interactive)
- Some backend work as well
- Landing pages and marketing site
- Building Internal tools (CRM, outreach systems, admin panels)
- Product frontend and some backend, depending on comfort levels (dashboards, chat interfaces, data visualization)
- Own the visual quality of everything we ship
Requirements
- React / Next.js / HTML / CSS — from scratch, not just wiring up components
- Python or Node.js
- MongoDB or SQL
- Git (GitHub/GitLab)
- Actual design taste — you don't need to be a designer, but you need an eye
- Tailwind CSS
- AI/LLM API integration
Nice to Have
- Data visualization (D3, Recharts, Plotly)
