Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Senior Principal Cloud Development Engineer role stands out in the SaaS ecosystem because it sits at the intersection of cloud delivery and enterprise-grade virtual app and desktop infrastructure. The focus on Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops suggests work on mature, widely deployed platforms where reliability, compatibility, and lifecycle management are central, rather than greenfield feature development. That makes it a meaningful seat for engineers interested in how large SaaS-adjacent services behave under real-world scale and customer complexity.
From a SaaS career perspective, the remit signals durable, transferable strengths: shaping architecture for distributed systems, driving performance and availability, and owning production outcomes through debugging and root cause analysis. The role also implies regular collaboration with product, security, and DevOps counterparts, which mirrors how modern SaaS organizations ship and operate services across the full lifecycle. Experience here tends to compound across platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, and technical leadership tracks.
This position is best suited for senior engineers who prefer hands-on technical leadership and are motivated by deep systems work, including OS internals and runtime behavior. It will fit professionals who enjoy setting technical direction, mentoring, and being accountable for production-grade outcomes in complex environments.

Job Description
Senior Principal Cloud Development Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Principal Cloud Development Engineer with 12–15 years of experience (or an advanced degree with 8+ years of relevant experience) specifically in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) development.
The ideal candidate is passionate about solving complex, large-scale system challenges and possesses deep expertise in data structures, algorithms, and operating system internals. You are a hands-on technical leader who drives innovation across the full software development lifecycle—from initial architecture to production. You are proactive, collaborative, and thrive in a high-impact, team-oriented environment.
If you are energized by building high-performance, scalable systems and continuously raising the engineering bar, we would love to speak with you.
Duties and Responsibilities
System Evolution: Design and evolve cloud-enabled, enterprise-scale CVAD systems that support massive deployments, high availability, and long-term data lifecycle management.
Technical Leadership: Drive the technical direction for core platform architecture and runtime innovations, ensuring scalability, performance, and extensibility.
End-to-End Ownership: Lead delivery from concept and prototyping through design, implementation, testing, and deployment within Agile frameworks (SAFe/Scrum/Kanban).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Management, Design, DevOps, and Security teams to deliver robust, production-grade solutions.
Innovation: Drive the exploration and prototyping of emerging technologies, including cloud-native architectures and AI-driven capabilities.
Mentorship: Mentor junior and senior engineers alike, elevating organizational standards in system design, debugging, and production engineering excellence.
Required Experience & Skills
Technical Proficiency: Expert level in C++/C# (preferred) or Java/Python, supported by solid systems-level foundations.
Computer Science Fundamentals: Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and performance optimization.
OS Internals: Extensive experience in programming on Windows/Linux platforms, including complex system debugging.
Cloud & Distributed Systems: Hands-on experience designing and building large-scale on-premises and cloud services (e.g., brokering, logging, storage, distributed systems, and identity integration).
Operational Excellence: Proven expertise in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and troubleshooting complex production environments.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders and work across global teams (Fluent English required).
Preferred Qualifications
Media & Streaming: Experience with graphics systems, video processing, or high-performance streaming technologies.
Security & Compliance: Background in building security-sensitive features (audit, compliance, data protection, and privacy controls).
AI Integration: Experience integrating AI capabilities into enterprise platforms, including multimodal LLM workflows and structured insights generation.
Quality Leadership: A proven track record of driving engineering excellence in observability, telemetry, and system performance.
