Role Overview:
Lead the design and evolution of a globally distributed messaging platform that powers real-time customer and enterprise interactions at scale. This role directly influences how millions of users communicate through secure, high-performing cloud services built on modern microservices architecture. At Genesys, you will help shape the future of customer experience by building intelligent, resilient systems that enable seamless collaboration across the world. You will own critical components of the Enterprise Messaging platform, partnering across engineering and product teams to drive innovation, scalability, and reliability. This position offers high visibility, meaningful technical ownership, and the opportunity to impact platform direction while advancing your technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of scalable microservices that support high-volume, real-time messaging workloads across global environments
- Own end-to-end feature development, from architecture and design through deployment, ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Drive improvements in system observability, including logging, monitoring, and alerting, to enhance platform reliability and operational efficiency
- Influence technical strategy by evaluating and integrating modern cloud technologies and distributed system patterns
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities with evolving customer and business needs
- Ensure compliance with global security and regulatory standards, including PCI, HIPAA, and GDPR, while embedding best practices into development workflows
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to a culture of innovation by experimenting with new technologies, AI-assisted development workflows, and modern engineering approaches that improve scalability, developer productivity, and user experience
- Leverage AI-powered and “vibe coding” style development tools responsibly to accelerate prototyping, implementation, testing, and operational efficiency while maintaining strong engineering quality standards
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend and distributed systems
- Demonstrated expertise in building and operating scalable, cloud-native applications
- Proficiency in Typescript and Java with the ability to work across multiple backend technologies
- Experience managing the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, deployment, and production support
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design and service-oriented architecture
- Experience working with NoSQL or relational databases in high-scale environments
- Hands-on experience with automated testing and continuous integration and deployment practices
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex challenges into practical solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, and Kinesis
- Strong understanding of distributed system design, scalability, and high availability patterns
- Experience building or supporting real-time messaging or collaboration platforms
- Familiarity with multiple programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript
- Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows to improve developer productivity, code quality, and delivery speed
