Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
Cloud deployment is a recurring friction point in enterprise SaaS, where product adoption often hinges on how reliably a service can be provisioned inside a customer’s cloud, network, and security constraints. This role sits at that intersection, turning deployment from a bespoke, support heavy exercise into a standardized capability across AWS and GCP. The emphasis on account bootstrapping, authentication wiring, and private networking reflects a SaaS company serving complex environments rather than a single, uniform hosting model.
For a SaaS infrastructure career, the work builds durable leverage: designing repeatable onboarding and deployment systems that reduce variance across customers and environments. Experience here translates into platform engineering patterns that many SaaS businesses need as they expand into regulated industries, support customer managed keys, or offer isolated and custom region deployments. It also develops the habit of treating operational workflows as product, with clear abstractions, reliability targets, and automation.
The position suits engineers who enjoy blending software engineering with infrastructure as code, and who prefer solving concrete integration problems over purely internal tooling. It is a strong match for someone comfortable collaborating across security, product, and customer facing functions, and who wants ownership of systems that directly influence time to value for SaaS customers.

Job Description
About the Role:
Glean is seeking a Cloud Deployment Software Engineer to join our Platform Infrastructure team. This team is in the Platform org and focuses on customer setup and deployment, especially in complex cloud, hosting, and security environments. You will help build the systems that bootstrap cloud accounts and projects, wire authentication, and turn deployment workflows into reliable, repeatable productized experiences for customers.
This is a strong fit for an engineer who enjoys cloud infrastructure, networking, infrastructure as code, and solving real-world deployment problems with clean software abstractions.
You will:
- Build and improve systems that automate customer setup and deployment across cloud environments.
- Develop deployment workflows and infrastructure as code templates that mirror customer environments and reduce manual setup work.
- Improve support for complex deployment scenarios including BYO-VPC, customer-managed keys, airgapped environments, and custom-region deployments.
- Work on cloud account and project bootstrapping, authentication wiring, proxy and private networking, and deployment orchestration.
- Partner closely with Platform, Security, Product, and customer-facing teams to make deployments faster, safer, and easier to operate.
- Raise the quality, reliability, and coverage of our AWS and GCP deployment tooling over time.
About you:
- You have 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in platform, infrastructure, or cloud-focused roles.
- You have solid backend engineering fundamentals and the ability to work across infrastructure-heavy systems.
- You have hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure in AWS, GCP.
- You have experience with Terraform or other infrastructure as code tools.
- You have strong networking fundamentals, including areas such as VPCs, subnets, routing, proxies, and private connectivity.
- You have built or improved deployment automation, onboarding workflows, internal cloud platforms, or customer-environment setup systems.
- You can balance engineering rigor with pragmatism and are excited to turn complex setup problems into repeatable productized systems.
- You communicate clearly, collaborate well across functions, and are comfortable taking ownership in an evolving environment.
Location:
- This role is hybrid (4 days a week in our San Francisco office)
