Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
Airtable’s product sits in a distinctive part of the SaaS ecosystem: a highly configurable platform where time to first value is tightly linked to long-term adoption. Featuring a Product Manager focused on funnel and activation highlights how central onboarding has become for SaaS businesses that serve many different roles and use cases, especially when personalization and AI are reshaping what “setup” can mean inside the product.
For a SaaS product career, this kind of scope builds durable skills at the intersection of customer understanding, lifecycle metrics, and product-led growth. Ownership from signup through sustained engagement sharpens judgment about which levers move activation versus retention, and when experimentation is the right tool versus deeper qualitative discovery. The emphasis on shipping in credible increments also mirrors how SaaS teams de-risk ambitious bets while maintaining delivery momentum.
This role tends to suit product managers who enjoy ambiguity, are comfortable being accountable for measurable outcomes, and can align cross-functional partners around a shared definition of success. It also fits professionals who want their craft to be grounded in real user intent and behavior, rather than feature throughput, and who are motivated by improving how customers reach meaningful workflows quickly.
The section above is editorial commentary from The SaaS Jobs, provided to help SaaS professionals understand the role in a broader industry context.
Job Description
The Opportunity
Airtable lets teams build custom apps to run their operations without writing code. Hundreds of thousands of organizations use it to manage everything from product launches to customer pipelines to content calendars.
Airtable is infinitely configurable. This is both its greatest strength and its biggest onboarding challenge: there isn't one way to use it, so there isn't one way to teach it. Our onboarding is one of the highest-leverage surfaces in the company, and it's ready for a fundamental rethink.
We're not looking for someone to run incremental optimizations. We're hiring a PM to reimagine what fully personalized setup and onboarding looks like now that we have AI. Instead of a generic tour or template gallery, every user gets an onboarding path that understands their role, use case, and intent, and builds them toward their first real workflow. We want someone who can hold the ambitious vision and ship it in credible increments.
What you'll do
- Own the full funnel from signup through sustained engagement, with a mandate to reimagine it rather than optimize it
- Dramatically improve how users find success with Airtable: deeply understand who they are and what they're trying to do, and design experiences that meet them there
- Lead AI-powered personalization across setup, in-product guidance, and re-engagement
- Build a rigorous experimentation practice and drive fast learning cycles across the team
- Partner with teams across the org to ship cohesive, adaptive experiences
Who you are
- 4-8 years of product management experience, with meaningful time owning activation, onboarding, or retention
- Customer obsessed: you start from what’s hard for our customers. Your solutions connect clearly to real problems you've articulated
- Full-lifecycle thinker: you care about the user across their entire journey, not just the first session. You understand which levers drive sustained engagement vs. trial conversion, and you design for both
- Rigorous about measurement: you define what success looks like, design experiments that give you real signal, and know when A/B testing is the wrong tool
- Ambitious and pragmatic: you can hold a big vision and break it into credible, testable increments. You know what needs to be right from the start and what's good enough to learn from
- Strong communicator: you can align teams across the org around a shared roadmap, and make a compelling case for bold bets
