Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Producer role sits at the intersection of business storytelling and a subscription media product, which is a close cousin to many SaaS models in how it relies on retention, audience trust, and consistent delivery. A daily narrative format also mirrors the cadence pressures seen in SaaS content and communications teams, where clarity and speed matter because the “release cycle” never really stops.
For SaaS-minded professionals, the career value is in building repeatable production systems: translating complex topics into accessible narratives, coordinating multiple stakeholders, and shipping on tight timelines without losing editorial rigor. The work strengthens skills that transfer well across SaaS environments, including structured interviewing, concise scripting, and data-aware judgment about what an audience needs next. Collaboration with a major newsroom adds exposure to high standards for accuracy and source management, which maps to SaaS expectations around credibility and domain expertise.
This role tends to fit producers who enjoy end-to-end ownership, from pitching through tape cutting and final assembly, and who are comfortable balancing parallel workstreams. It also suits someone motivated by business and money coverage, and by the craft of shaping narrative and interview-driven episodes under a daily publishing rhythm.
The section above is editorial commentary from The SaaS Jobs, provided to help SaaS professionals understand the role in a broader industry context.
Job Description
The Journal is a daily narrative news podcast produced in partnership with the Wall Street Journal. Each day, we tell one important news story in 15-20 minutes. We focus on money and business — applying those lenses to general news or zooming in on business stories other outlets don't tell. We've published explosive investigations into stand-your-ground laws and the fertility industry, covered news on the fast-moving world of OpenAI and the race to control artificial intelligence, and everything from Elon Musk’s business empire to the viral rise of Labubus. We work alongside some of the best business journalists in the world, and our show is heard by millions of listeners.
