Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
Export controls and trade compliance are increasingly central in SaaS businesses that ship advanced analytics, security, or dual use capabilities across borders. This role stands out because it sits at the intersection of productised technology and regulated international delivery, with direct ownership of licensing mechanisms such as TAAs and DSP-5s and the practical interpretation of ITAR and EAR in day-to-day operations.
For a SaaS career, the long-term value is learning how compliance becomes an operating system rather than a gate. Leading investigations, root-cause analysis, and voluntary disclosures builds fluency in risk management and governance that transfers across SaaS segments, especially where customers include government or highly regulated industries. Acting as the primary interface with agencies also develops a rare competency in external stakeholder management that complements typical SaaS experience in product, engineering, and go-to-market collaboration.
This position is best suited to a compliance leader who prefers clear accountability and structured decision making, and who enjoys translating complex regulation into workable processes for technical teams. It will fit someone who wants to be close to mission-critical deployments and is comfortable being the internal authority on sensitive, high consequence judgments.
