Gross annual base salary: USD 86,000 - 95,000
Additional variable compensation and benefits may apply. Total compensation is based on experience, skills, and location using objective, job-related criteria.
Summary
The Indirect Tax Analyst will be exposed to a broad range of experiences within the global indirect tax field while growing your knowledge of other tax areas and also your business skills. The position will require interaction with other corporate accounting groups within the company.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with U.S. sales and use tax and global VAT/GST compliance activities, including nexus reviews, registrations, filing requirements, and monitoring changes in tax legislation.
- Review and reconcile indirect tax data across Avalara and the ERP system, investigate variances, verify return accuracy, and support timely filing and payment of tax returns.
- Maintain and organize customer exemption certificates, including validation, renewal tracking, document retention, and audit support.
- Assist in reviewing exemption documentation, validating VAT IDs, and ensuring accurate tax treatment and invoicing requirements.
- Assist with reconciling indirect tax general ledger accounts and prepare analyses supporting monthly close, account accuracy, and compliance reporting.
- Assist with domestic and international tax audits, tax authority correspondence, registrations, and other compliance-related projects.
- Collaborate with Sales, Finance, Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable teams to resolve indirect tax issues and provide guidance on taxability and compliance matters.
- Contribute to ad hoc analytical projects as necessary both within and beyond your primary area of focus.
- Other ad hoc duties as assigned by leadership.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in an accounting related field or equivalent work experience
- 4 years of related tax or accounting experience with at least 1-2 years of experience within Indirect Tax area.
- Experience with Sales Tax Compliance
- Strong experience working within ERP Systems (Intacct).
- Experience working with Sales Tax Software (Avalara).
