About VectorY
VectorY is a fast-growing biotech company developing long-lasting therapies for neurodegenerative diseases, based at Amsterdam Science Park. We combine gene therapy and antibody engineering to pursue new possibilities where medical need is high.
With approximately 80 professionals across Amsterdam, Europe and the US, we are building momentum and scaling our organisation thoughtfully. At VectorY, innovation and collaboration are not just values. They are how we achieve our ambition. We believe the best ideas emerge when people challenge each other openly, work across boundaries, and stay focused on what is right for the organisation. We embrace diversity while striving to function as one cohesive, mission-driven team.
The role
As our preclinical programs continue to advance, we are looking for a Temporary (Sr.) Technician to strengthen our Bioanalytics team until June 2027.
In this role, you will help turn samples from VectorY's in vivo studies into reliable, decision-ready data. The work you do will directly support scientists and study teams in understanding how our therapies perform, making your contribution an important part of the drug development process.
A typical week combines planned laboratory work with the flexibility to respond to changing study priorities. You will process biological samples, perform molecular and potentially ligand binding assays, review data and document your work carefully in our electronic laboratory notebook. Alongside experimental work, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across Bioanalytics, Preclinical and Biomarker Groups to discuss results, troubleshoot technical challenges and plan upcoming analyses.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on in the lab while also thinking critically about data quality, scientific rigour and continuous improvement. Success in this position means becoming a dependable and increasingly independent contributor who consistently delivers high-quality, reproducible data while helping the team meet ambitious project timelines.
What you'll do
- Process biospecimens using DNA and RNA extraction and purification methods
- Perform molecular assays, including qPCR, RT-qPCR and, where relevant, ligand binding assay(ELISA and MSD) analyses
- Analyse and interpret experimental data and maintain clear, traceable documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical challenges in collaboration with colleagues and supervisors
- Contribute to the optimisation and continuous improvement of assays, methods and laboratory workflows
What you bring - A Bachelor's or Master's degree (HLO/HBO/BSc or MSc level)
- Hands-on experience with DNA/RNA isolation, qPCR and RT-qPCR
- The ability to work independently in a laboratory environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and organisation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience within a bioanalytical and/or regulated (GxP) environment is preferred
- Experience with ELISA and MSD techniques, assay development, quality systems or electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs) is a plus
- Residency in the Netherlands, preferably within the Randstad region
Who you areYou are someone who takes ownership of your work and follows through on commitments. You enjoy solving practical laboratory challenges and approach experiments with curiosity, attention to detail and a critical mindset.
You work in a structured and organised way, ensuring that data, records and documentation are accurate and complete. When unexpected results occur, you remain solution-oriented, investigate root causes and proactively involve colleagues when needed.
You are comfortable working independently, but you also value collaboration and open communication. Most importantly, you thrive in a dynamic research environment where priorities can change and where delivering high-quality, reproducible data contributes to bringing innovative therapies closer to patients.
