About the Role:
Camunda is hiring a Senior Manager to lead our Documentation team for Camunda 8. In this high-impact role, you’ll own the end-to-end user experience across our documentation platform (docs.camunda.io), transforming it from a collection of reference content into a best-in-class, user-focused resource. Reporting to the VP of Engineering and part of the senior engineering leadership team, you will drive the strategic evolution of our documentation practice—building a high-performing team, embedding technical writers within product teams, and instilling a culture of ownership, excellence, and product fluency. What you'll be doing:
- Lead and scale a high-performing documentation team, including hiring and onboarding new technical writers, and fostering a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Establish governance and scalable collaboration processes between documentation, engineering, and product teams to ensure aligned, consistent, and high-quality content.
- Drive a user-first documentation strategy, evolving our content from technical reference to intuitive, end-to-end product guidance that empowers users across all experience levels.
- Develop product fluency within the documentation team to enable technical writers to create content with minimal reliance on engineering hand-holding.
- Act as a hands-on leader, contributing directly to documentation, setting standards, and modeling excellence while supporting the team as a player-coach.
What you bring:
- Ability and/or willingness to use our product.
- Proven experience leading documentation or technical writing teams in a fast-paced, product-driven tech environment.
- Strong understanding of modern documentation practices, tools (e.g., Docusaurus or similar), and the needs of developer and enterprise software audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to build governance structures and cross-functional collaboration processes at scale.
- Ability to assess and raise content quality standards, with a strong editorial eye and user-centric mindset.
- Hands-on technical acumen - comfortable understanding complex products and guiding documentation for technical users.
- Track record of hiring, developing, and retaining high-performing team members.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, especially with engineering and product leadership.
- Ability to develop information architectures/concepts that guide and give direction to technical writers.
Nice-to-haves:
- Worked in a documentation field for similar products.
- Worked as a Software Engineer in previous roles

What We Have to Offer:
Compensation
For external hires, we consider the skills and experience of the incoming candidate, but typically place candidates in the first half of the range to ensure ample room for growth over the entire lifecycle of the role.
Below is the annual Total Target Cash Compensation (Total Cash) range for Camundi located in one of our entities. Total Cash refers to base salary and 100% attainment of variable target, where applicable. Actual Total Cash offered will depend on factors such as skills and qualifications related to the role. To comprise the Total Rewards package, Camunda also offers equity (where applicable) in the form of a Virtual Employee Stock Option Plan and benefits based on the country of residence.
The annual Total Cash range for this position for Camundi in our entities is as follows:
- United States: $181,000.00 to $271,500.00
- Germany: €120,400.00 to €180,600.00
- United Kingdom: £117,300.00 to £176,000.00
- Singapore: S$224,800.00 to S$337,200.00
