About the Team
At OpenAI, our Trust & Safety operations are central to protecting our platform and users from abuse. We serve a diverse customer base, ranging from individual users and early-stage startups to global enterprises, across ChatGPT and our API (and beyond!). Operating within our Support organization, our team works closely with Product, Engineering, Policy, and Legal teams to ensure we’re delivering the best possible experience to our users at scale while keeping OpenAI and users safe.
About the Role
We are seeking highly technical, data-savvy Trust & Safety Solutions Analysts to help build the future of scalable safety operations. This is not a traditional moderation or enforcement role—instead, you'll sit at the intersection of AI, automation, and trust systems, designing technical solutions that allow us to develop technical solutions to reduce manual review work and move faster in a complex and high-risk landscape.
You’ll operate as a force multiplier: working with operations analysts, policy experts, and engineers to turn raw signals into intelligent automation, spotting patterns in customer support data and deploying scrappy technical solutions to improve how we keep users safe. You should thrive in ambiguity, love building zero-to-one, and be energized by applying AI to some of the toughest operational challenges we face.
In this role, you will:
Design and implement scalable, automated Trust & Safety workflows, using a combination of in-house tools, third-party platforms, and LLM-based automation.
Build prototypes or scrappy technical solutions (e.g., scripts, LLMs, AI agents) to help our operations team move faster and smarter.
Rapidly analyze large-scale support and incident data to uncover abuse patterns, policy gaps, or emerging threats—and translate those insights into action.
Collaborate with Engineering, Policy, and Ops to develop feedback loops that turn frontline signals into model training data and detection heuristics.
Collaborate cross-functionally to anticipate and manage safety risks for new product and policy launches.
You might thrive in this role if you:
Have 7+ years experience in Trust & Safety, Fraud, Risk, or similar operational risk roles, ideally at a tech platform or startup.
Have hands-on experience building systems, tools, or processes from scratch and can operate as a scrappy generalist, technologist, and problem-solver.
Possess strong data fluency: SQL and spreadsheet power user; familiarity with Python, R, or similar scripting languages a plus.
Experience with LLM prompt engineering or deploying LLMs in operations or moderation workflows.
Bring a builder’s mindset: scrappy, adaptable, and excited to develop solutions even in ambiguous or resource-constrained environments.
Experience working with content moderation vendors or human labeling operations.
Have excellent communication skills and can work cross-functionally with engineers, policy teams, and senior leadership.
Are comfortable handling sensitive and high-risk content areas (e.g., violence, abuse, fraud).
