About the Role
We’re looking for a highly experienced Head of Engineering to join our core team and lead all things engineering. You’ll be joining us from a similar leadership role and are now looking to bring your expertise into a high-growth, AI-first company building data-heavy products with real impact.
This is a foundational role that combines technical leadership, organizational excellence, and close collaboration with the x-functional leadership team to shape the future of the company. You’ll be responsible for building and scaling the engineering function, driving execution, and helping define our technical vision in lockstep with the broader company strategy. You’ll lead engineering in building agentic workflows, and robust data infrastructure that powers RAG solutions, AI toolchains, and scalable web scrapers, partner ecosystem that enables developers & partners to build Palm’s trusted identity solution.
What You'll Do
- Own Engineering Strategy & Execution
- Set the technical direction and system architecture for all product and data platforms
- Work with Product to translate company vision and product strategy into an executable engineering roadmap
- Drive high-quality, reliable, and fast delivery across backend, frontend, and data systems
- Collaborate Closely with Founders
- Work hand-in-hand with the leadership on product direction, strategy, and execution, reporting to the COO
- Contribute to high-level decision-making on go-to-market, user experience, and team priorities
- Serve as a key partner in fundraising, hiring, and shaping company culture
- Scale & Lead the Engineering Team
- Hire, mentor, and retain a high-performing team across software and data engineering
- Define engineering culture, rituals, and processes that encourage ownership and speed
- Lead by example: be hands-on when needed, unblock teams, and guide architecture decisions
- Partner Deeply with Data Engineering
- Collaborate closely with data engineering to build scalable pipelines, robust data infra, and ML-enabling systems
- Work with data engineering to ingest, clean, and normalize large volumes of compliance data across jurisdictions
- Guide the engineering of resilient automation systems to extract structured data from semi-structured sources at scale
- Ensure our AI and data-driven features are production-grade, observable, and cost-effective
- Help align data work with product use cases and customer impact
- Build for AI-First Products
- Bring deep understanding of how to build, ship, and maintain AI-powered features
- Ensure engineering practices are compatible with experimentation, model updates, and data feedback loops
- Design and scale agentic workflows that combine LLMs, vector search, and internal tools to solve compliance data problems.
- Ensure safe and compliant use of third-party AI tools and APIs (e.g., OpenAI, LangChain, Pinecone, Weaviate).
- Foster collaboration between engineers, data engineers, and product teams
About You
- 8–10+ years of engineering experience, including 3–5 years in startup leadership roles
- Currently a CTO or VP Engineering at a fast-paced startup; excited to go deep on execution
- Deep experience building AI-powered and data-intensive products (ML workflows, data infra, RAG, LLMs, analytics platforms, etc.)
- Track record of leading engineering teams through 0→1 and scale-up phases
- Hands-on technical chops and ability to lead architectural decisions across the stack
- Strong collaboration skills with product, design, and data stakeholders
- Passion for mentoring engineers, growing leaders, and building resilient teams
- Systems thinker who can balance velocity, quality, cost, and customer impact
- Proven experience building or managing teams working on agent-based systems, RAG pipelines, or LLM-integrated workflows.
- Familiarity with regulatory or compliance data, and building systems to manage, validate, and expose that data securely.
- Hands-on experience with web scraping frameworks, distributed data collection, or workflow orchestration tools.
