About the Team
The Finance Platform & Technology team at OpenAI builds and scales the future-proof systems and data architecture that power our core financial operations. We enable business agility, compliance, and operational excellence across quote-to-cash, procure-to-pay, inventory, and asset management for both B2B and B2C. Our focus is on modernizing workflows through strategic integrations, scalable automation, and seamless data flows—empowering smarter decisions, reliable reporting, and sustainable growth as OpenAI evolves.
About the Role
As an Enterprise Solutions Architect, Finance Systems, you’ll define and lead the architectural strategy for OpenAI’s Finance and Procurement domains. You’ll work closely with business stakeholders and technical leaders to ensure our systems and processes scale efficiently, maintain rigorous compliance, and align with long-term strategic goals. You’ll sit at the intersection of enterprise strategy, solution design, and execution—guiding our shift to a modern, cloud-native ERP and planning ecosystem, while enabling AI-driven insights and advanced analytics.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In this role, you will:
Own the end-to-end architecture for our next-generation ERP system across finance domains (e.g., Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, General Ledger).
Collaborate with internal teams and Professional Services to validate designs, guide configurations, and ensure scalable patterns.
Translate business requirements into system design aligned with technical components and compliance standards.
Establish reusable integration frameworks, domain-driven data models, and API standards for real-time reporting and AI-enabled workflows.
Embed data governance, controls, and security best practices into ERP architecture.
Work with PMO and IT Risk to define architectural review gates and sign-off procedures.
Advise senior Finance, Procurement, and Executive stakeholders on architectural decisions and roadmap priorities.
Champion scalable ERP architecture across technical and business teams, mentoring peers and partners.
You might thrive in this role if you have:
12+ years in enterprise architecture or finance-procurement transformation, ideally leading greenfield ERP implementations.
Deep expertise in modern cloud-based ERP systems for Finance and Procurement.
Proven success partnering with Professional Services on large-scale implementations.
Proven expertise leveraging Financial Accounting Hub or similar tools to architect and implement rules-based automation, transforming large volumes of transactional data into streamlined ERP entries.
Hands-on experience defining integrations and data models across EPM tools (Anaplan or equivalent), reporting ecosystems, and adjacent finance systems.
Strong business-process acumen across P2P, O2C, inventory costing, ASC606, revenue recognition, and financial close.
Ability to align architecture with finance strategy and build consensus across diverse stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills with both technical and business audiences.
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or equivalent experience.
