About the Role
We are seeking an experienced engineer to lead the definition, development, and execution of coexistence (CoEx) testing for a complex product integrating a wide variety of sensors, actuators, and wireless technologies. This role will ensure that multiple subsystems operate reliably together without interference, even under challenging real-world scenarios.
You will be responsible for defining the coexistence test matrix, developing and executing the necessary test cases, reviewing results, and driving corrective actions with cross-functional teams. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of subsystem operating modes (e.g., Wi-Fi bands and encodings, sensor low-power/low-noise configurations, actuator duty cycles) and the ability to work closely with software teams to enable specific operating conditions for testing.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In this role, you will:
Define and maintain a comprehensive coexistence test matrix covering all relevant subsystems and operating modes.
Develop, automate, and execute coexistence test cases across wireless, sensor, and actuator modules.
Collaborate with software teams to implement low-level commands and control sequences needed to enter specific operating modes.
Analyze coexistence test data, identify interference or performance degradation, and drive corrective actions to closure.
Ensure coverage across all relevant protocol variations, including wireless bands/encodings, sensor modes, and actuator duty cycles.
Document test procedures, configurations, and results to support reproducibility and compliance needs.
Work closely with systems, RF, and firmware engineers to refine test methods and align on mitigation strategies.
You might thrive in this role if you:
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
8+ years of experience in system-level test, wireless test, or sensor/actuator integration.
Strong understanding of wireless technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, BLE), including frequency bands, modulation schemes, and coexistence considerations.
Experience with sensor and actuator control, including low-power and low-noise operating modes.
Proficiency in test automation (Python preferred) and data analysis tools.
Ability to interpret hardware and firmware specifications and translate them into actionable test procedures.
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in multi-subsystem environments.
Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with coexistence testing in consumer electronics or IoT devices.
Knowledge of RF test equipment, spectrum analysis, and wireless protocol analyzers.
Familiarity with firmware development or scripting for embedded systems.
Prior experience in defining and managing a system-level test matrix.
Understanding of regulatory requirements related to wireless coexistence and interference.
