Lead Implementation Architect
Remote Position
About the Role
As a Lead Implementation Architect at Karbon, you’ll be the technical lead on data migrations and integrations, shaping how our customers transition into Karbon’s platform. You’ll architect and oversee migrations from document management systems (Google Drive, SharePoint, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.) and practice-critical tools, while mentoring a small team to execute on your vision.
This is a hybrid role: you’ll set the blueprint for scalable processes, frameworks, and tooling — while also dedicating some capacity for hands-on delivery. Over time, you’ll transform implementation work from one-off projects into repeatable, scalable solutions. You’ll also partner closely with Product and Engineering to influence the roadmap for productized integrations and define when to create services packages for custom solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Architect & Deliver: Scope, design, and lead technical migrations, with hands-on delivery for complex or high-impact projects.
- Build Scalable Tooling: Develop lightweight automation and integration solutions (APIs, scripts, no-code platforms) that streamline migrations and set the foundation for repeatable processes.
- Mentor & Guide: Provide technical leadership to a small internal team, with the potential to expand capacity as demand grows.
- Standardize: Create migration playbooks, templates, best practices, and customer-facing resources to drive consistency and scalability.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Sales Engineers, Implementation Managers, and CSMs for pre-sale scoping and handoffs. Work with Product Managers and Engineers to influence productized connectors and determine when services should maintain custom solutions.
- Escalation Point: Act as the go-to expert for challenging technical and data issues during implementations.
- Shape the Future: Identify patterns in customer needs, and drive the balance between product roadmap solutions and scalable services packages.
About You
- 5–8 years of experience in a technical implementation, integrations, or solutions delivery role.
- Strong working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, and modern web technologies.
- Experience building prototypes, integrations, or migration tooling using APIs, no-code platforms (e.g., Make.com, Zapier, Tray.io), or light scripting (Python, JavaScript, etc.).
- Proven ability to mentor and guide junior technical staff.
- Skilled at working cross-functionally with Customer Success, Engineers, and Product Managers.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a bias for action and a drive to help customers reach “done.”
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience with document management migrations (Google Drive, SharePoint, OneDrive, Dropbox).
- Familiarity with accounting or practice management software (CCH, Wolters Kluwer, Intuit, Xero, Sage, IRIS, etc.).
- Knowledge of OAuth2, SSO, and SaaS authentication models.
- Background in a customer-centric SaaS or scaleup environment
