Your Mission
At Propeller, solving complex engineering challenges is at the heart of what we do — and strong leadership is key to making that happen. As Engineering Manager for our GIS & Survey team, your mission is to empower engineers to build scalable, high-quality, customer-focused products that advance our platform on a global scale. You’ll lead efforts to add advanced GIS features and bridge the gap between survey and GIS capabilities, creating a seamless, integrated experience for our users.
You’ll lead and mentor a team of full-stack engineers, driving delivery while championing code quality, best practices, and continuous improvement. You'll guide the team’s technical direction and ensure we’re always moving towards smarter, faster, and more sustainable ways of working.
Beyond the technical, you’ll actively support your team’s career growth — through regular feedback, coaching, and opportunities that stretch their skills and keep them learning. While your focus is on leadership, you'll stay close to the code when needed, so you can lead with empathy and real insight into the team’s day-to-day.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to ensure alignment, contribute to roadmap planning, and deliver impactful products
- Support team members’ growth through regular feedback, coaching, and tailored development opportunities
- Advocate for and implement strong engineering practices to help the team continuously raise their technical standards
- Identify and remove blockers—whether technical, process-related, or interpersonal—to keep the team moving forward smoothly
- Partner with the Talent team to help hire great engineers and actively support new hires during onboarding to set them up for success.
Your Skills
- You’ve either had prior leadership experience or have a passion for mentorship and leadership.
- You have solid full-stack development experience and stay hands-on when needed, so you can lead with empathy and truly understand the team’s day-to-day challenges.
- You lead with empathy, stay open to feedback, and create a safe environment where people can do their best work
- You’re always looking for ways to improve processes, systems, and how the team works together
- You care deeply about people — mentoring, coaching, and helping others grow is a key part of how you lead
