Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Software Engineer – Voice role sits at a core SaaS infrastructure layer: cloud telephony inside a large, established SaaS platform (Genesys Cloud). Voice is a differentiated surface area in SaaS because it combines real-time media constraints with the operational expectations of multi-tenant cloud services, and the listing signals work across both application logic and the underlying routing/signaling stack.
From a SaaS career perspective, the role builds durable experience in running distributed systems where reliability, observability, and incident response are part of the engineering craft. Exposure to AWS-native services, microservice design, asynchronous messaging, and production troubleshooting maps cleanly to many SaaS domains beyond contact center—payments, logistics, collaboration, and any product with latency-sensitive workflows. The additional SIP/OpenSIPS and test automation angle also develops a specialization that is uncommon but broadly valuable in communications-heavy SaaS.
The fit signal points to an engineer who enjoys deep debugging, systems thinking, and improving service behavior over time rather than only shipping UI-facing features. It suits someone in the early-to-mid career band who wants structured collaboration (architecture/SRE/DevOps touchpoints) while still owning meaningful components in a large-scale cloud environment.
The section above is editorial commentary from The SaaS Jobs, provided to help SaaS professionals understand the role in a broader industry context.

- Apply modern distributed system patterns to ensure services are resilient, scalable, and performant.
- Contribute to SIP routing and signaling logic using open-source technologies such as OpenSIPS, with support from senior engineers.
- Develop and maintain SIP automation tests using SIPp, including scenario creation, performance testing, and regression coverage.
- Participate in design discussions and peer code reviews, helping drive quality and long-term maintainability.
- Troubleshoot production issues across application, infrastructure, and telephony layers.
- Enhance service observability through metrics, dashboards, logs, and alerts.
- Collaborate closely with Cloud Voice architecture, SRE, and DevOps teams to deliver reliable, high-quality voice services.
- Continuously improve engineering skills, with emphasis on Java, AWS, SIP, and cloud-native principles.

- Understanding of SIP, RTP, or VoIP fundamentals (or a strong willingness to learn).
- Familiarity with scripting.
- Experience with REST APIs, asynchronous messaging, or event-driven architectures.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities.
- Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills.
- Growth-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn new technologies and domain knowledge.
Desirable Skills

- Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus or OpenTelemetry.
- Experience with CI/CD workflows and automation tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CodePipeline).
- Exposure to open-source VoIP technologies (OpenSIPS, FreeSWITCH, Asterisk, RTPengine).
- Experience supporting production cloud systems or participating in on-call rotations.
- Performance engineering knowledge for distributed or real-time systems.
