About the Role
The Application Security Architect plays a critical role within NinjaOne’s Information Security organization, with visibility and impact across the entire company, from individual developers to executive leadership. This is a highly technical, architecture-focused position that blends hands-on security engineering with strategic design and technical leadership. You will work across application, cloud, infrastructure, and identity layers to ensure security is embedded throughout the software lifecycle, from design through deployment. Partnering closely with engineering, platform, and product teams, you will lead secure design and architecture reviews, anticipate emerging threats, and help deliver scalable, resilient, and compliant security solutions. You will also act as a security mentor, helping elevate security awareness and maturity across engineering teams.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Partner with engineering teams to review system designs and source code, identifying security and architectural risks
- Lead threat modeling, secure design, and architecture review sessions
- Drive and evolve the Security Champions program to promote shared ownership of secure development practices
- Define and guide security initiatives from proof of concept through production readiness
- Monitor emerging threats, regulatory changes, and compliance frameworks, assessing their impact on NinjaOne
- Serve as a security point of contact for customers, clearly communicating security and data protection practices
- Create concise documentation, reports, and presentations for both technical and executive audiences
- Document security architectures, standards, and best practices
- Mentor other members of the security team and provide technical guidance
- Champion a strong culture of security awareness across the organization

About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, including 2+ years in security architecture or offensive security roles
- Strong understanding of application security principles, including authentication, authorization, cryptography, and secure communications
- Experience applying security frameworks and methodologies such as OWASP, NIST, BSIMM, STRIDE, or DREAD
- Hands-on experience with identity and access management technologies (OAuth 2.0, SAML, OIDC)
- Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, C++, Python, Ruby)
- Strong experience securing AWS cloud environments
- Familiarity with modern delivery technologies, including infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, containers, and Kubernetes
- Solid understanding of Linux and Windows security in enterprise environments
- Strong networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and secure network design
- Experience with penetration testing practices and common security tools
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
