As a Senior Network Engineer, you will manage and influence the design, implementation, and operation of a large-scale Cisco-based global enterprise network spanning campus, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, and cloud connectivity. You will independently lead complex initiatives, ensure production stability within your domain, and drive continuous improvement aligned with global architectural standards.
This is a senior-level engineering role requiring strong technical depth, sound judgment, and operational ownership. You will mentor developing engineers, lead cross-functional efforts, and contribute to the evolution of our enterprise network in partnership with Staff and Principal engineers.
This position is based in Brazil and supports a globally distributed environment. Strong professional English communication skills are required for daily collaboration with teams across North America, EMEA, and APAC.
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise WAN, Routing, Switching, & Wireless
- Design and operate enterprise WAN architectures leveraging Cisco SD-WAN
- Implement and optimize control, data, and management plane policies
- Design segmentation strategies using VPNs/VRFs within SD-WAN
- Develop application-aware routing and DIA strategies
- Lead branch migrations from traditional WAN to SD-WAN
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot BGP (eBGP/iBGP) including: Route redistribution strategies, Prefix filtering and route-maps, Path selection tuning and failover behavior
- Design and optimize OSPF (multi-area designs, summarization, LSA behavior)
- Understand EIGRP where legacy environments exist
- Implement high-availability designs using: HSRP / VRRP, ECMP, WAN failover strategies, IP SLA tracking
- Design and operate Cisco Catalyst 9800 Wireless LAN Controllers
- Optimize RF design, RRM tuning, and roaming performance
- Troubleshoot high-density and roaming-related performance issues
- Implement secure wireless architectures integrated with ISE (802.1X, profiling)
- Support site surveys and wireless modernization initiatives
Campus & Switching Infrastructure
- Design and operate Cisco Catalyst 9000 series (9300/9400/9500) platforms
- Implement advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching features including: VLAN/SVI design, EtherChannel (LACP), StackWise and StackWise Virtual, Rapid-PVST / MST, Storm control and loop prevention
- Perform deep packet-path analysis across switching and routing layers
Automation & AI-Assisted Tooling
- Develop automation using Ansible (Cisco collections) and/or Python
- Interface with Cisco APIs (RESTCONF, NETCONF, SD-WAN APIs)
- Leverage Cisco Catalyst Center (DNAC) for provisioning and Assurance
- Utilize streaming telemetry, NetFlow, SNMP, and API integrations to enhance visibility across LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, and firewall domains
- Correlate data across multiple Cisco platforms to identify systemic issues versus isolated incidents
- Leverage Cisco Catalyst Center (Assurance), Cisco SD-WAN analytics, ThousandEyes, and Secure Firewall telemetry to proactively identify performance, capacity, and availability risks
- Validate AI-generated insights and anomaly detections using strong networking fundamentals and packet-level analysis
- Translate AI-driven recommendations into actionable remediation plans
- Reduce mean time to detection (MTTD) and mean time to resolution (MTTR) through effective use of telemetry and intelligent monitoring
- Influence the adoption and optimization of AIOps capabilities across the network engineering function
- Partner with architecture and operations teams to improve signal-to-noise ratio in alerting systems
- Drive continuous improvement in observability standards and operational dashboards
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive operational tasks where appropriate, ensuring alignment with AI-driven operational workflows
- Collaborate with DevOps and cloud teams to ensure network telemetry integrates effectively into broader monitoring ecosystems
Network Security, Identity, and Authentication
- Operate and optimize Cisco Firepower NGFW environments managed via FMC
- Troubleshoot access control policies, NAT, IPS, and site-to-site VPNs
- Support firewall high-availability configurations
- Analyze packet captures to diagnose asymmetric routing or policy issues
- Design and support wired and wireless 802.1X deployments
- Configure and troubleshoot: Policy sets, Profiling, Device administration (TACACS+), Dynamic VLAN assignment
- Collaborate with Security teams to enforce identity-based access control aligned with Zero Trust principles
Collaboration, Documentation & Learning
- Collaborate with global team members across regions and time zones
- Participate in design reviews, post-incident reviews, and operational forums
- Maintain accurate documentation for configurations, changes, and procedures
- Participate in on-call rotations as part of a structured support model
- Demonstrate reliability, ownership, and accountability for assigned work
- Actively develop skills across enterprise networking, cloud, and automation technologies
Required Qualifications:
- 6–8+ years of enterprise network engineering experience
- CCNP
- Advanced knowledge of Cisco enterprise networking platforms
- Strong expertise in BGP and OSPF design and troubleshooting
- Proven experience with Cisco SD-WAN
- Hands-on experience with: Cisco Catalyst 9000 series, Cisco Catalyst 9800 WLC, Cisco Firepower NGFW, Cisco ISE (802.1X wired & wireless)
- Experience implementing high-availability routing and switching designs
- Experience connecting to cloud environments such as AWS & Azure
- Advanced troubleshooting capability in production environments
- Practical automation experience (Ansible or Python required)
- Experience supporting multi-region/global environments
- Professional English proficiency is required for technical collaboration; accent-free or native-level fluency is not required.
- Experience with ITIL principals including Incident and Change Management
- Experience with ServiceNow
