Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This IT Systems Engineer role stands out in the SaaS ecosystem because it sits at the intersection of internal reliability and product delivery. Propeller operates a hardware plus software model, which typically raises the bar for secure connectivity, device management, and on premises capacity planning. The Denver based remit also signals a meaningful physical infrastructure footprint alongside cloud tooling, a combination that is less common in SaaS only environments.
For a long term SaaS career, the work offers exposure to the operational foundations that enable recurring revenue businesses to scale responsibly. Improving onboarding automation, maturing MDM, and strengthening security practices are recurring themes across SaaS companies as headcount and device fleets grow. Owning documentation and leading independent projects also builds the kind of operational literacy that transfers well into IT operations, security engineering, or broader platform reliability paths within SaaS.
This role is best suited to an engineer who prefers hands on problem solving across both end user support and infrastructure ownership. It will appeal to someone comfortable moving between tickets and longer horizon improvements, and who enjoys translating technical decisions for non technical stakeholders. Candidates looking for direct accountability over systems, rather than a narrow specialist lane, should find the scope aligned.

Your Mission
As an IT Systems Engineer at Propeller, you will be the driving force behind uplifting and maturing our IT support function in Denver. You’ll handle the technical support that keeps our team moving, while dedicating significant time to leveling up our infrastructure, automating onboarding workflows and physically expanding our on-premise server room to meet our customer’s needs.
This is a hands-on role where you will blend user support with critical infrastructure work—building racks, physically upgrading servers, troubleshooting hardware issues and ensuring our servers run smoothly. You’ll have the autonomy to lead projects from concept to completion, translating complex technical challenges into simple solutions while ensuring our global team stays connected and secure.
Your Responsibilities
-
Deliver exceptional support: Manage day-to-day user requests and IT office support in Denver, troubleshooting complex hardware, networking, and AV issues to keep the team moving.
-
Own the infrastructure: Build, maintain, and expand our on-premise server room, handling the physical "rack and stack," cable management, and hardware upgrades required to meet our cost and capacity goals.
-
Automate and optimize: Identify and implement automation for manual processes such as new hire onboarding and account setups.
-
Mature our systems: Lead independent projects to upgrade our MDM solutions and security protocols, ensuring our fleet of laptops remains compliant, secure, and operational.
-
Create knowledge: Document designs, troubleshooting guides, and manuals to ensure technical concepts are accessible to the broader audience and future team members.
Your Skills
- You have 2-3 years of experience in a similar role and have a strong foundational knowledge in networking (WiFi, firewalls), MacOS administration, and Linux server management, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems.
- You have hands-on experience working in server rooms or data centers and are comfortable with physical hardware maintenance, cabling, and infrastructure upgrades.
- You possess excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts simply to stakeholders who may not be tech-savvy.
- You are a self-starter who can independently lead IT projects from scope to implementation, navigating ambiguity to figure things out on the go.
- You have experience with MDM solutions (such as NinjaOne) and directory services are highly valued.
Benefits
- Fully paid employee United Platinum PPO medical, dental, and vision coverage
- 20 days paid vacation time per year with no accrual or carryover cap
- 3% non-elective employer contribution to 401(k)
- Employee share options
