The Role
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Applied Field Engineering - Product Specialists to spearhead our thriving and expanding EMEA team within the Applied Field Engineering organization.
In this pivotal leadership position, you will manage a team of Applied Field Engineers who are experts in specialized domains, including Advanced Analytics and Apps & Collaboration.
Your core responsibility will be to guide your team in securing technical wins and successful deployments for complex customer use cases. This involves more than just technical validation; you will also direct your team in resolving architectural deficiencies and guaranteeing that solutions meet critical non-functional criteria such as reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency. Ultimately, your strategic leadership will be key in defining the team's vision, setting strategic priorities, and owning the subsequent business results to accelerate both Consumption and TACV (Total Annual Contract Value) across the Snowflake AI Data Cloud.
Responsibilities & Focus Areas:
Team Leadership & Development:
Recruit, hire, and manage a high-performing and diverse team of Applied Field Engineers (AFEs), prioritizing their ongoing development and performance management.
Cultivate the next generation of technical leaders by mentoring high-potential AFEs and actively building a robust succession plan.
Technical Strategy & Execution:
Optimize account prioritization and the engagement model for the AFE team to maximize impact.
Drive complex use cases from initial concept to successful, high-consumption production implementations, securing critical technical wins.
Ensure architectures are optimized for long-term scale and significant business value, directly contributing to Total Annual Contract Value (TACV) and Consumption growth.
Serve as a player/coach, leading by example through compelling architectural discussions and presentations at executive roundtables, community events, and internal Snowflake gatherings.
Strategic Partnership & Influence:
Collaborate closely with Sales Leadership to strategically align technical resources with regional revenue targets and key account plans.
Provide executive-level guidance to revenue leaders regarding sales strategy, addressing product gaps/obstacles, and contributing to organizational planning with executive staff.
Establish and scale internal Communities of Practice to elevate the team's skills across all segments and regions within EMEA.
Ensure strong collaboration with Product Management, acting as the voice for EMEA customers in shaping Snowflake’s strategic product roadmap.
On day one we will expect you to have:
10+ years of industry experience in a pre-sales or technical consulting capacity, with 4+ years of people management experience (hiring, training, and retaining top diverse talent), preferably leading a geographically dispersed team.
Demonstrated history of surpassing business objectives and achieving measurable, scalable influence.
Strategic expertise in managing intricate sales processes, including multi-level engagement and coordinating diverse overlay resources.
Demonstrated deep, executive-level technical authority in at least two of the following domains: Data Warehousing, GenAI/Machine learning, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, or Cloud Computing.
Proven ability to advise C-level executives on future-state technical architectures within the modern data ecosystem.
Outstanding presentation skills to both technical and executive audiences, whether impromptu on a whiteboard or using formal presentations and demos.
University degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related fields (or equivalent experience).
Willingness to travel within EMEA to meet with customers or for internal leadership meetings.
