Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Engineering Manager role sits at an established, product-led SaaS company building an AI-powered planning platform used across enterprise functions. That combination matters in SaaS because it typically brings together high-scale, multi-tenant product concerns with deeply cross-functional workflows, where engineering choices directly influence how customers model and act on business data.
From a SaaS career perspective, the position offers a balanced path that keeps technical craft central while formalising people leadership. The remit of coaching, feedback cycles, and performance calibration reflects the operational side of scaling engineering organisations, while continuing to ship production software keeps skills current in areas that remain portable across SaaS, such as translating requirements into maintainable systems and partnering closely with product thinking.
This role is best suited to an experienced engineer who wants management responsibility without stepping away from hands-on delivery. It will appeal to professionals who value clear separation between technical leadership and people management, and who prefer structured development conversations over ad hoc supervision. It also fits someone comfortable operating in English within an international SaaS environment.

Pigment is the AI-powered business planning and performance management platform built for agility and scale. We connect people, data, and processes in one intuitive, feature-rich solution, empowering every team—from Finance to HR—to build, adapt, and align strategic plans in real time.
Founded in 2019, Pigment is one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies globally. Industry leaders like Unilever, Snowflake, Siemens, and DPD use Pigment daily to make more informed decisions and confidently navigate any scenario.

At Pigment, we take smart risks, celebrate bold ideas, and challenge the status quo—all while working as one team. If you're driven by innovation and ready to make an impact at scale, we’d love to hear from you.
The Opportunity
We are looking for senior software engineers who can also be people managers of other software engineers, for a share of their time (up to 50%).
On the software engineering part:
More than knowledge of a specific language or framework, we are looking for great software engineering skills:
ability to translate functional requirements into an elegant and simple design, and then deliver the code.
We are also looking for engineers who understand the product and the customer's needs in detail and can suggest innovative ideas: in the end, it's all about delivering value to end users.
On the people management part, here is what it entails:
- coaching up to 6 direct reports (usually every 2 weeks)
- defining expectations, collecting and delivering feedback
- building career development plans (we have a skill leveling matrix)
- participating in performance-related decisions with other managers (ex: proposing and calibrating salary raises), including under-performance remediation
- (optional) leading ad hoc projects with other managers to structure engineering (ex: organize technical demos, animate an All Hands, lead evolutions to our skill leveling matrix)
In the Pigment engineering team, people managers do not have the responsibility of a particular technical domain, as this is the role of technical leads: this way, we make sure career decisions and technical choices are independent from one another.
