Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
Netomi sits in the enterprise SaaS segment where contract structures, billing terms, and revenue recognition can become complex as customers scale usage. Featuring a Head of Accounting or Controller role here highlights a core SaaS inflection point: moving from lightweight, cash oriented processes to an institutional finance foundation that can support enterprise deal cycles and more rigorous reporting expectations.
For a SaaS finance professional, the career value is in building repeatable operating cadence across close, controls, and the contract to invoice to revenue workflow. That experience translates across subscription and consumption models, especially where cross functional alignment with Sales, Legal, and Operations determines data quality and downstream metrics. Systems evaluation is also central, making this a practical path for developing judgment around ERP choices, spend tooling, and audit readiness in software businesses.
This role is best suited to an operator who prefers hands on ownership and enjoys turning ambiguity into documented processes. It will likely appeal to someone at a stage where leading the close is familiar, but designing policy, strengthening internal controls, and setting up a team roadmap are the next steps in a SaaS focused accounting career.
The section above is editorial commentary from The SaaS Jobs, provided to help SaaS professionals understand the role in a broader industry context.

About the Role:
Netomi is looking for a strong operator to build and lead the accounting function at a critical stage of scale. This person will own the close, elevate the company from lightweight cash-based processes toward disciplined accrual accounting, improve controls, and create a finance operating backbone that management and investors can trust.
This is not a maintenance role. The right candidate is hands-on, systems-minded, comfortable with ambiguity, and excited to build clean processes in a fast-moving enterprise AI environment.

Responsibilities:
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and close calendar management.
- Lead the transition toward GAAP-like accrual accounting and stronger revenue recognition practices.
- Design and document accounting policies across revenue, accruals, prepaid expenses, commissions, software capitalization, and reserves as needed.
- Partner with Finance, Sales, Legal, and Operations to ensure customer contracts are reflected correctly in invoicing and accounting treatment.
- Build reliable AR, AP, expense reimbursement, and vendor payment workflows with clear controls and approval paths.
- Improve audit readiness, support tax and compliance workstreams, and coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and advisors.
- Evaluate and improve systems, including ERP/accounting stack, spend management tools, and close tooling.
- Hire, coach, and manage future accounting team members over time.
What Success Looks Like in 12 Months:
- A predictable monthly close with clear ownership, deadlines, and reconciliations.
- Accrual-based reporting that management and investors can rely on.
- Cleaner revenue accounting and contract-to-invoice workflows with fewer manual workarounds.
- Stronger controls over spend, payments, approvals, and balance sheet integrity.
- A scalable accounting foundation that can support fundraising, diligence, and future audits.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally across a mix of public accounting and high-growth SaaS or enterprise software environments.
- Strong command of U.S. GAAP, monthly close, revenue recognition, and internal controls.
- Experience building or upgrading accounting processes in a company that moved from scrappy to more institutional.
- Comfort working directly with finance leadership, founders, and cross-functional business partners.
- Strong systems orientation; experience with NetSuite, QuickBooks, or comparable ERP tools, plus spend tools such as Ramp, Brex, or Expensify.
- Hands-on mindset with sound judgment and strong attention to detail.
- CPA strongly preferred.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with enterprise contracts, consumption or usage-based pricing, or complex invoicing environments.
- Exposure to AI, software infrastructure, cloud cost allocation, or revenue operations.
- Experience preparing a company for financing, audit, or major diligence processes.
