Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Full Stack Engineer role sits at the intersection of product experimentation and platform building inside a subscription-based ecosystem. The remit spans creator tooling, subscription commerce, and public APIs, which are core SaaS levers for turning a product into a repeatable platform. Work tied to Open Access integrations and first party subscription experiences reflects a SaaS pattern of expanding distribution while keeping a consistent billing and entitlement layer.
For a SaaS career, the standout value is exposure to the full lifecycle of monetization features: designing backend services, shaping APIs that external partners rely on, and connecting those services to user facing surfaces. That combination tends to build durable skills in platform reliability, contract design, and iterative product delivery, all of which transfer across B2B and B2C SaaS environments where subscriptions and identity are foundational.
The role is best suited to engineers who prefer owning outcomes across layers rather than specializing narrowly, and who enjoy collaborating in cross functional squads with product and data partners. It will fit someone comfortable balancing near term shipping with longer term architectural decisions, particularly where scalability and developer experience are part of the technical conversation.
The section above is editorial commentary from The SaaS Jobs, provided to help SaaS professionals understand the role in a broader industry context.
Job Description
Podcast R&D is a product and technology team within Podcast Vertical at Spotify, focused on building best-in-class tools for creators. We own the platforms, tools, and features that power the creator experience allowing podcasters and publishers to host, create, and distribute their content, grow and engage their audiences, and earn revenue on Spotify.
This Backend leaning Full Stack role is part of the New Value area, a cross-functional team working across business, product, design, and insights to identify, evaluate, launch, and scale new content verticals and revenue models. Our ambition is to evolve the Podcast Vertical into a general-purpose creator and publisher platform that delivers meaningful value to Spotify Premium and drives over $1B in incremental revenue.
You’ll play a key role within a diverse, distributed squad focused on subscriptions and fandom experiences - including Synced Feeds, the creator tooling that drives subscription awareness and conversion on Spotify; the Spotify Open Access API (SOA), which enables third-party - hosted subscriptions; and new first-party products in the subscription content space. In the year ahead, the squad will focus on building a new, scalable version of Spotify’s native subscription offering, enhancing Synced Feeds, and evolving SOA. Put together, these efforts are establishing a strong foundation for creators of all sizes to monetize their fans directly on Spotify.
