Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
This Client Engineer II role sits at the intersection of product experience and platform foundations, a common pressure point in mature, consumer-scale SaaS. Format Foundations focuses on shared surfaces and components that appear across many entry points, which makes the work less about a single feature and more about shaping the consistency and quality of an ecosystem of experiences across devices and partner integrations.
For a SaaS career, the value is in learning how high-traffic products stay coherent as they expand. Work on reusable mobile components, infrastructure, and developer experience builds skills that translate across subscription products: designing for scale, maintaining accessibility and reliability, and supporting multiple product teams through strong internal platforms. The emphasis on experimentation and modern workflows also maps to how SaaS organisations reduce delivery risk while iterating on user-facing outcomes.
This role tends to suit engineers who enjoy craftsmanship in UI and interaction details, but who also want to influence the underlying foundations other teams depend on. It fits someone comfortable collaborating closely with product and design, and interested in balancing shipping with long-term maintainability in a multi-platform environment.

Job Description
We design Spotify’s consumer experience—end to end, moment to moment, across every screen, platform, and partner integration. Our mission is to make listening feel effortless, personal, and joyful for billions of users around the world. That means turning complexity into clarity across hundreds of touchpoints—from our mobile and desktop apps to the smart speakers, TVs, cars, and integrations where Spotify shows up every day. If it touches a consumer, we shape it. We bring deep insight into human behavior, design, and technology to craft experiences that feel intuitive, expressive, and unmistakably Spotify.
Format Foundations is part of Spotify’s Core Experience Studio, focused on helping users connect more deeply with creators and their content. The team owns and evolves some of Spotify’s most highly trafficked experiences, including Artist, Album, Podcast, Episode, and Audiobook surfaces.
Alongside building user-facing experiences, the team develops mobile foundations, reusable components, and infrastructure that help teams across Spotify create consistent, high-quality experiences at scale. You’ll join a collaborative environment where engineers, designers, and product managers work closely together to shape the future of listening across music, podcasts, audiobooks, and emerging formats.
We’re looking for a mid-level mobile engineer who enjoys building polished user experiences, contributing to platform foundations, and exploring modern engineering workflows — including experimentation and AI-assisted development practices.
