Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs
Pigment operates in the enterprise SaaS layer, where product value depends heavily on dependable platform primitives rather than surface features. A senior backend role focused on “building blocks” sits close to the technical center of gravity for an EPM product, touching the kinds of shared services and abstractions that determine how quickly new capabilities can be shipped across the application.
For a SaaS engineering career, this kind of infrastructure remit tends to compound. Work on reusable components, performance, and maintainability maps directly to the recurring challenges of multi-tenant platforms, evolving data models, and long-lived APIs. The cross-functional interfaces mentioned, spanning product and customer-facing teams, also reflect a common SaaS reality: backend decisions show up in user workflows, supportability, and iteration speed, not just internal elegance.
This role is best suited to engineers who prefer ownership of foundational systems and enjoy making trade-offs visible across teams. It signals a fit for someone comfortable operating with a platform mindset, collaborating beyond a single feature area, and investing in technical choices that will be reused by many engineers and experienced indirectly by many customers.
